A warm welcome to Alexandra & Xheneta at CALM – Centre d’Art La Meute! New co-directors and co-curators for the 2026–2028 exhibitions and events programme!

Alexandra Sheherazade Salem (b. 1996) and Xheneta Imeri (b. 1997) are multidisciplinary artists based in Geneva. Their practice has naturally evolved into a collaborative curatorial approach, in which exhibition design and public programming are developed through dialogue. Their research explores memory, language and the relationships between the visible and the invisible, focusing on what circulates and transforms within intimate and collective narratives. It unfolds through projects conceived as spaces for encounter: open-ended formats that encourage the circulation of ideas, the resonance of artworks and the forging of connections.

Hika • portable lamp design

Warmth encapsulated in a metal box, turned on with the same small gesture of opening a lid. The soft glow of the light aims to make any space feel a little more like home.

The slightly angled lid recalls the warm and nostalgic sight of light passing through a door left slightly open. Light emitted from both the top and bottom creates a soft, even light. The lid acts as the switch, creating a subtle and intuitive interaction. When off, it quietly blends into its surroundings; when on, it appears to float.

Materials
Polished aluminum & painted PLA printed lid and internal parts (imitating powder coated aluminum)

Dimensions
160 × 162 × 72 mm

“I Cry In…” — is a collection of stories inspired by the multilingual lives of people I met after moving to Lausanne. These individuals share a common thread: the experience of navigating two or more languages from an early age. Through their perspectives, this book explores profound questions: How does language shape our thoughts and identity? Can a language still be your mother tongue if fluency is lost? These reflections unfold in a series of short stories that delve into the complexities of language, memory, and identity.

“An Open Ending: Visual Dialogue of Moments” is a collaborative photo-text project shaped by the same theatrical concept as my diploma typeface: Revue. Together with Farah (@yevamir), we invited the stage onto the page. The photographer tells the story through images, while I respond with text. Rather than illustrating one another, image and text exist in loose, intuitive dialogue.

Photography captures moments of light, shadow, and presence, while text reflects mood, emotion, and perception. The reading experience is non-linear, open-ended, and shaped by the reader’s own rhythm, unfolding not in real time, but in reading time.
