And so to Day 8, the final night of this year’ Midnight Preserves at Preservation Hall… another exhilarating night of sweaty and scintillating music, led off in the fiercest of fashions by Her Royal Highness the Queen of Wales, Judith fucking Owen! Some lovely quieter moments en español followed from Miss Mireya Ramos, then Neal Francis sat at the piano and played his own songs, one of which featured new daddy and Revivalists singer David Shaw. The songs of the dearly departed friend of Pres Hall Jimmy Buffet were then performed by his band the Coral Reefers, and then on to the finale, led by The Coral Reefer’s Jake Shimabukuro - an amazing Hawaiian singalong version of… Bohemian Rhapsody! I kid you not. And I have video.

I totally exhausted and drained? But can’t wait for next year’s Midnight Preserves! A huge “thank you” to Greg, Mike, Ben, Ashley and absolutely everyone at the Hall, and a big final shout out to Lyla. You all rock. And roll.

🎷✨ This weekend at The Preservation Hall Midnight Preserves was an experience through soundscapes that will resonate for a lifetime. As we sat in the hallowed hall for the first time last night, (on others we witnessed the magic from the courtyard), surrounded by the reverberations of history, art, and culture, it was nothing short of magical.

On some nights of the Midnight Preserves legendary members of The Rolling Stones, Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, and Irma Thomas made surprise performances in the historic venue, and on the last night, we were treated to an incredible lineup: a heartfelt tribute to Jimmy Buffett by the Coral Reefer Band, soul-stirring mariachi melodies from Grammy-winning artist Mireya Ramos, a Queen sing-along courtesy of ukulele maestro Jake Shimabukuro, nashville songwriter Will Kimbrough, legendary singer Judith Owen, and unforgettable performances by Neal Francis and David Shaw.

This experience underscored the vital mission of @preservationhall – not just as a venue but as a cultural beacon. With new renovations underway and the unwavering support of the Preservation Hall Foundation, they are committed to keeping this unique spirit of New Orleans alive and thriving. We are proud to be one of their partners in programming with their other new venue, the @toulousetheatre, which hosted the majority of the @liveforlivemusic fest at nite series.

A massive thank you to all the artists and every soul involved in making these nights possible. Let’s keep the legacy of preservation hall alive! 🎶💫 Please consider donating online or becoming a member to get first dibs on these historic performances during jazz fest.
