POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Super early days on this multi-layered papercut composition, but I'm too excited not to share! There will be three drawings in total, one b&w, one grayscale & one full colour, stacked atop one another, further pushing the sense of distortion/disruption. This is just two of the drawings, only one of which is about 60% cut.

I'm getting a blister on my finger, and I can barely see straight from the focusing, but it's worth it to feel invigorated about practise again. Still finding so much worth from a quieter, concentrated process.

I still need to finish the final drawing and will be focusing on that before pushing the paper cutting further as I want to be in control of what I block off and what I allow to show through. Learning so much, and refining the process with every hour that passes.

Thanks to the incredible @yilinkong_models for the initial, and ongoing, inspiration - miss you mate! ❤️

Stay tuned for updates as this progresses!

Yilin I . ink on paper . 2025

The first of three drawings of @yilinkong_models ready for cutting! There will likely be a few changes as I start the papercutting process; I've learned to push things a little further than I might normally in a drawing so I have more options when I start to 'destroy' the image. So a smidge 'busy' at the moment, but all part of the process!

You can swipe through to see a little glimpse into the process - from the original pencil sketch through the pencil drawn plan to the final drawing.

The idea is to make a multi-layered composition with the other two that im working on simultaneously. Stay tuned for more soon - so excited for the next steps!

Yilin II . Pencil on paper . 2025

Another exploratory drawing of the incredible @yilinkong_models in preparation for my next papercut.

One more to go and then it's on to the next stage - I'm looking forward to sharing the process of this one!

A recent sketch from a session in the studio with the incredible @yilinkong_models. These, and others made on the day, were all preparatory work for some new papercuts that I'll be working on over the coming weeks so stay tuned for updates on those!

I've also made this drawing available in my big studio clear out - check the usual places for the details!

One more drawing of @yilinkong_models from Saturday's life drawing class at @isolationartlondon. This was from the final 40 minute pose, but I ended up using the time to do two 20 minute drawings from different positions. The first one was the second image in my previous post.
