Introducing our latest Arts Correspondent!

@yinkore_ is a self-taught Nigerian digital artist based in Ontario whose work explores intersectionality, representation, and the stories that are too often left unheard.

As an Arts Correspondent, Yinkore joined a recent Community Advisory Circle exploring how the Arts Ottawa Awards can evolve to better reflect the communities they serve. Her reflection brings her own lived experience into the conversation, asking us to think critically about visibility, excellence, inclusion, and who gets to shape the arts.

“She Speaks Down Into Us” by Yinkore is now live on our website.

Born out of a deeply personal journey, this collection captures the feeling of being lost, asking questions, and receiving only silence. But where other answers failed, painting became the way.

Through her star motifs, Yinkore reminds us that even in our darkest moments, we are being guided and that even when we feel most lost, we are exactly where we need to be.
