Way to kick off the start of the semester 💫! Today, TXYJA had the incredible opportunity of hosting District Attorney José Garza as a speaker! He shared his experiences working to rebuild public trust in the criminal justice system, along with answering pressing questions about community-based programs focused on restorative justice. Thank you @joseforda for the amazing opportunity! ⚖️💙

Join Keep Austin Beautiful for Clean Streets Day 2026 on Saturday, September 19! ☀️

Together, we'll remove trash and recyclable material from Austin's streets and roadways.

Last year, volunteers at the Keep Austin Beautiful office removed:

🗑️ 23 bags of trash
♻️ 8 bags of recycling
🚛 45 pounds of bulk litter

Considering the difference volunteers made at that site alone, imagine what we'll accomplish across the whole city this year. We can't wait to make another impact with you on Clean Streets Day 2026!

Learn more at the link in bio. ✨

Last month, Lone Star Legal Aid partnered with @yjalliance and pro bono volunteers for a Family Law workshop.

Twenty-five volunteers participated, working to prepare court filings for clients in need of legal services.

By the end of the day there were 15 cases ready to file!

Thank you to @arminsalek (President of @texyounglawyers) for bringing a group of pre-law students to join us.

Special thank you to Mendoza Legal Group (@menbroza58) for sponsoring this workshop and making it possible to bring everyone together to help legal aid clients!

We appreciate all of our volunteers including Youth Justice Alliance pre-law students, professionals, and pro bono attorneys!

Sign up now to volunteer for one of our upcoming Family Law Workshops on Friday, August 28th or Friday, September 25th - https://lnkd.in/dFwcjeGT

Imagine being 19 and helping prep a real legal case.

That's exactly what students are doing at the first high school legal clinics in the US — started by lawyer and social entrepreneur Armin Salek.

As Armin says in this short clip: “I trust that the next generation is well equipped to serve all of us." Listen up!

"I trust that the next generation is well equipped to serve all of us."

Imagine being 15 and helping prep a legal case. That's exactly what students are doing at the first high school legal clinics in the US — started by lawyer and social entrepreneur Armin Salek. Young people from diverse communities in Texas learn legal literacy by actually doing: researching issues, working through cases, and collaborating with a practicing lawyer on things that matter to their communities — housing, eviction, immigration, and more.

Great to see Mr. Armin Salek, the Executive Director of the Youth Justice Alliance. Thank you for the time to introduce the work the YJA do for our future attorneys. I’m sure these group of rising seniors will be part of YJA once they graduate. @yjalliance
