Started dancing in college because I saw a woman dancing on a table in a sparkly dress and decided that was PRECISELY my level of extra. Then stopped dancing for a literal decade after graduating because work and life took over. Got back into it on a whim last year after doomscrolling past a video of @elleryder_ teaching at Playground, and then met @ashleyfeldmann in the first group class I attended and instantly bonded over being former Dancesport girlies. She then promptly proceeded to encourage (coerce?) me to get back into competing, and s/o to her for that because it’s been such a blast dancing together at comps this year. Elle made (and continues to make) me remember how much I love dancing, and training with her and the ballroom baddies the past 18 months has been the best whirlwind adventure.

Putting my Cuban heels back on has consistently stood out as the best decision I’ve made so far this decade (marrying Walker was last decade - shut up).

A HUGE shoutout to @t_valiev, @veronica__rich, and @sareynolan, for helping me expand my ballroom fam beyond Playground and for making technique so much fun to learn. (Fun fact: technique is NOT inherently fun to learn. It’s inherently ass. They’re just really good at making it fun). The whole @brooklyndancesportclubla community has been such a fun place to start calling part of my ballroom home!

And General shoutout to the ballroom baddies!! Thank you for putting up with my class photos at the end of every lesson (and my foolishness DURING every lesson). Sorry I couldn’t tag everyone! Instagram is being homophobic and only let me tag 20 people, and I hit that limit by like the second group photo. Can’t a bitch have friends?!?
