YMCA is a safety net and a lifeline for some of the most vulnerable young people in our city, who often end up needing these services because state institutions have already failed them.

I recently visited the @ymcarhg on Shakespeare Street and met the team and service users to hear about their experiences, as well as the urgent need for trauma-informed approaches in our institutions, earlier intervention to lessen the need for crisis support, and high-quality move-on accommodation. We're delighted to share that The Zone Youth Project has been awarded £19,778 from @tnlcommunityfund

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund for this investment in young people.

The funding will support and enhance our environmental activities through our Youth Environmental Action Programme, creating more opportunities for young people to get involved in outdoor learning, environmental action and positive community projects. 🧗‍♀️🌳

The project will benefit young people directly by increasing their awareness, wellbeing and connection to nature. Schools and the wider community will also benefit, as participants are encouraged to share their learning and promote positive environmental behaviours among their peers.

This funding will help us expand our offer, enabling more young people to build skills, confidence and connections while making a positive difference in their local communities.

Want to get involved? Get in touch to find out more about the Youth Environmental Action Programme and how you can take part today (dm us or follow the link in our bio)

Do you work with young people who are NEET or at risk of exclusion from education, training or employment?

The Zone Youth Project provides engaging outdoor experiences that help young people build the confidence, resilience and transferable skills they need to thrive.

Through activities including:
🧗 Rock climbing
🪨 Weaselling
🌿 Outdoor learning
🚵 Cycling
🚣 Water-based activities
🤝 Team-building challenges and more...

Participants develop essential soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, leadership, resilience and teamwork - all of which can support them to re-engage with education, training or employment.

If you're looking for an inspiring way to support the young people you work with, we'd love to hear from you.

Get in touch to find out how ZYP can complement your provision and help young people unlock their potential (link in bio).

Great two days at @nottalone1 events at @ymcarhg showcasing the support we off both primary and secondary schools and sharing some wellbeing activities.

What was really special was bringing our Next Move youth leaders along as part of their work experience with us, providing them with opportunities to talk to young people about mental health and sharing with the different teachers and services what their role entails.

So proud of both of them!

First take? Never heard of it🎬😅

While filming our Camp Williams content, there are always a few forgotten lines, mistimed entrances, and plenty of moments that don't make the final cut...

Here's a sneak peak at some of the outtakes from our Camp Leaders as they get ready for summer.

We're really looking forward to welcoming another year of young people for a summer packed with activities, adventures and new friendships.🌞
