5 things that stood out for me at the “YES YOU CAN” Conference. I left the conference with more than just notes. I left with reminders about influence, perception, honour, collaboration, and the power of community. Here are 5 things that stayed with me: 1. We need more positive messages. There is so much negativity in the world already. We must intentionally use our voices, platforms and stories to put hope, possibility and positive messages back into the world. 2. Confidence + Collaboration can create unexpected outcomes. The story of the young lads who had just ₦5 when @woliagba_ayoajewole asked for it was a powerful reminder that sometimes confidence, willingness and collaboration can open doors you never imagined. 3. What are you perceiving, and what are people perceiving about you? @thedayoolusoga spoke about the importance of investing in positive perception. The weight of first impression and the need for people to have the right perception of who we are and what we are capable of in our journey to greatness, his session resonated deeply with me. Your reputation is an asset. Your personal brand is an asset. What people consistently experience from you becomes what they believe about you. 4. Honour will always attract honour. @iambabatunmise is a man I consider a man of honour, and that has been evident in the way he conducts himself and relates with people. Seeing him and what he pulled off that day reminds me that the relationships we build and the value we consistently give people can become part of our greatest legacy. 5. The right community can change your trajectory. When I think about the people who support me and genuinely want to see me succeed, I realise something: I am better because of the people around me. No one truly builds alone. The right community doesn’t just celebrate your growth. They contribute to it and perhaps that is one of the biggest lessons I took away from the conference. Build yourself. Build people. Build relationships. Build a community. Ultimately, the people we become and the lives we impact are part of the legacy we leave behind. Stepped out yesterday with one thing in mind “to learn” and I came back with so much more.
