It is with sad hearts to share that our little Bear has chased his favorite ball over the rainbow bridge. After 14.5 years of living with both a heart condition and in his last stage of life, oral cancer, Freddie’s little body decided it was time to rest. ❤️‍🩹🐾

We’ve shared some of the most intense and beautiful memories together, and every single person he met during his life he loved unconditionally. To those who loved and cared about our little Bear from day 1 to his final days, I cannot thank you enough. You’ve filled his big heart with so much joy and his tail with so many wags. I’m forever grateful to you for the love you’ve shown him.

To my little Bear: you’ve been the best thing that’s ever happened to me - you’ve given me reasons to continue during some dark moments, and I hope I was able to give you the happy life that you deserved. Please know that I’ll be with you soon, and we will be swimming together again, playing hide and seek until you leap in my lap with kisses, and we’ll be eating unlimited carrots and watermelon.
Love you, baby Bear. Always and forever 🐶🐾

Today we received the outcome of Freddie’s tumor that was removed from his lip last week.

A little back story: on April 21, Eric and I headed to London for the London marathon. Nothing was wrong with Freddie, all seemed normal. A couple of days prior to arriving back home on May 1st, we received some texts from the pups’ incredible dog sitter that Freddie had been attempting to roll around on blankets and scratch his face. When doing so, he would bleed a bit from his mouth. We didn’t know what it could be, but when we arrived home, we realized that Freddie had a growth on his lip - something that was not there 1.5 weeks ago. After a couple weeks of playing communication games between his cardiologist (Freddie has an elevated congenital heart disorder) and his vet to see if they would allow anesthesia to help remove the tumor, they finally gave the green light.

Fast forward to today, the worst Google-late-night rabbit-hole possibility came true: Freddie does have melanoma and it’s a very aggressive type - which would account for how suddenly and quickly his tumor grew out of nowhere. We have possible options to extend his life, but there are no guarantees, and with his age (14.5yo) and medical history, we are nervous to put him through all of that. My heart is broken. No, it’s shattered. I’ve cried every single day for a month while we’ve been going through this. Meanwhile the little guy has been an absolute trooper - tail wags and all. Our goal is to give Freddie the best quality of life that we can for the remainder of time that we are blessed to have with him. This came about so suddenly that we honestly haven’t even had much time to digest it all. He deserves the love, the cuddles - and not the tears. If you have any tips on some great ideas to spend time with our little Bear, please share them in the comments. We appreciate your outreach and support- it’s meant so much!

@londonmarathon was a vibe! I’m still on cloud 9 and will be for quite some time after racing alongside some of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met. The crowd, the runners, the volunteers - it all felt electric! I went in to this race knowing I did about half of my usual marathon training block mileage (due to injury: missing end of February, all of March and did very little in April), so I wasn’t sure how things would go. My goal was to run without having my injury re-appear, and guess what - it was a success with my third fastest marathon time.
🫶🏼 I am so thankful for the new strength training and cardio conditioning that I’ve been doing at @roarstation since January - also major love to @shokzusa for the incredible headphones (letting me soak up my music but also the incredible crowds vibes from start to finish).
✨I’m especially grateful to @yoericmel for being the most incredible support anyone could ever ask for 🥹😍 and to everyone who reached out during this cycle, during this weekend’s race, and also to those who supported with donations to @international_animal_rescue - thank you! You can still support: see my bio to help make a difference!

Funny how a year can break you, rebuild you, and save you all at once. I’ve spent the past few weeks recovering from my marathons and honestly just… thinking. Letting my brain slow down for the first time all year. And looking back, 2025 was wild. Transformative in every sense. Running didn’t just change my life — it pretty much saved it.

Last year, I was in a darker place than anyone knew. I kept it to myself, numbed a lot of it with drinking, and blamed anything but the truth. And then I started my Runna half-marathon plan last fall… and everything shifted. Those miles forced me to reflect, reset, and decide what I actually wanted for my life. And somewhere in there, I realized alcohol wasn’t part of my future. So on January 28, 2025, I got sober — and I haven’t looked back.

The clarity that followed? Insane. My mind cleared, the heaviness lifted, and my running changed completely. I’ve been running since 2009, and this year I somehow hit personal bests in every distance. Still shocks me. While finish time never really mattered to me, to see the progression of both my mental and physical self get better and better, it was a joy that I wanted to ride a little bit.

@runna played a huge role (and being in a partnership with them half way through the year = signs of being in right place) — the structure, the support, the community. It helped me find my confidence again.

Now, after 7 half marathons and 3 major marathons this year, I’m honestly excited to see what 2026 brings. I want to race a little less and connect a little more. Because this community? It’s powerful. Healing. And it saved me in ways I didn’t even realize I needed.

I’m pumped to keep working with Runna and to kick off @londonmarathon training soon. Sydney will wait — she’ll get her moment in the future.

And to everyone who follows along, supports me, messages me, or runs with me: thank you. Truly. I’m grateful for this little corner of community we’ve built together.

Here’s to more growth, more peace, and more miles in 2026. 🫶🏼

Wicked For Good - I have no notes!! It's a masterpiece from start to finish. And that finish? Oh — chef’s kiss! Tons of 😢- tons of 🤣 - most of all, tons of ❤️. The cast's interpretation of the Wicked music was, in my opinion, superior to the Broadway show, and the two new songs fit in seamlessly. I can’t wait to see this again!!
