Which dance level is right for you? 🤔💃🏽🕺🏽 “Beginner.” “Intermediate.” “Advanced.” We see those words on workshops all the time—but what do they actually mean? One of the biggest misconceptions in dance is that your level is determined by how long you’ve been dancing. It isn’t. Two people can start on the same day and develop at completely different rates. And you can absolutely be intermediate in one style while still being a beginner in another. BASIC 🌱 This is where foundations are built—and there is zero shame in being here. You’re learning timing, basic steps, connection, terminology, lead/follow fundamentals and how the dance actually works. Don’t rush through the basics just to earn another label. Strong dancers keep returning to them. PRE-INTERMEDIATE 🌿 Things are beginning to click. You understand the general foundation and can execute familiar patterns, but you’re still developing consistency. This is the bridge between knowing the steps and actually becoming comfortable using them. INTERMEDIATE 🔥 Now we’re building quality. You can comfortably social dance without needing every movement called out for you. Your timing, connection and fundamentals are becoming dependable, and you’re ready to refine technique, movement, partner connection, styling and musical awareness. SKILLED ⚡ You’re ready for material that demands more than memorizing another pattern. Musicality, body movement, technique, adaptability, precision, creativity and deeper understanding become part of the challenge. But here’s the important part: Higher level does NOT mean better dancer. Being able to execute complicated patterns doesn’t automatically make someone a great social dancer. Connection matters. Timing matters. Floorcraft matters. Adaptability matters. Respect for your partner matters. And yes—having fun still matters. And if you’re somewhere between two levels? That’s normal. Ask your instructor. Take the class that challenges you without completely removing your ability to learn. Sometimes leveling up means trying something harder—and sometimes leveling up means returning to the basics with a better understanding than you had before. #RitmoYa #Dance Ask

🏆 THIS is what JERSEYS & RITMO is all about. ❤️‍🔥 Different teams. Different backgrounds. Different stories. One dance floor. One community. 💃🏽🕺🏽 Our Jerseys & Ritmo Social was another reminder that what makes these nights special isn't just the music or the dancing—it's the PEOPLE who continue to show up, welcome somebody new, share a dance, laugh together, and help us build something bigger than ourselves. To everyone pictured here —and everyone who joined us throughout the night—GRACIAS! ❤️ Your energy is what makes Ritmo Yá, Ritmo Yá. And there so much more… 🗓️ AUGUST is already in motion! Keep an eye on our monthly calendar and come find us around the community. Whether it's your first time dancing with us or your 100th, there's always room for you on the floor. ⭐ And if Ritmo Yá has given you a great experience, introduced you to new people, helped you grow as a dancer, or simply given you a place to belong, we'd love if you'd take a moment to leave us a review. Your words help new people discover our community and give them that little extra encouragement to take their first step onto the dance floor. See yourself in this photo? Tag yourself. 👀 See somebody you know? Tag them too! See y'all somewhere on the dance floor this August. 🔥🌴 ¡Nos vemos bailando! #RitmoYa #JerseysAndRitmo #FortWayne #DanceCommunity #SocialDancing

What. A. Night. ❤️💃🕺 JERSEYS & RITMO was everything we hoped it would be and more! A huge thank you to our incredible featured guest instructors Matthew & Mariana from Turquoise Dance Company for sharing their passion, knowledge, and artistry with our Fort Wayne dance community. Their workshops were packed with energy, creativity, and inspiration, and their performance reminded us why we love bringing talented artists to Ritmo Yá. A special thank you as well to the Son del Alma Bachata Team for an outstanding performance that had everyone cheering! We were also thrilled to showcase an amazing lineup of local vendors: 🍹 Asia's Alixirs 🍬 Auntie Neete's Sweets 🍮 NM Delights 🇨🇴 Colombian Delights Your delicious food, drinks, and desserts helped make the evening even more memorable. One of my favorite parts of every Ritmo Yá social is seeing our dance family continue to grow. We welcomed dancers from Fort Wayne, South Bend, Indianapolis, Toledo, Detroit, and beyond, all coming together on one dance floor to celebrate music, culture, and community. Moments like these remind me that dance truly has a way of bringing people together. These are just a few snapshots from an unforgettable evening... and trust me, there's so much more to come! 📸 RG Photography was there capturing all of the smiles, laughs, dancing, and unforgettable moments. We can't wait to share the full albums with you soon! To everyone who came, danced, supported our vendors, welcomed our guests, and made another Ritmo Yá social so special... Thank you. We'll see you on the dance floor again soon. 💙🩵 #RitmoYa #FortWayne #LatinDance #DanceCommunity #RGPhotography
