🪕 Jesse Beals - Banjo & Vocals

Gas City’s Jesse Beals is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter bringing clever originals and razor-sharp banjo playing to southern Indiana. From punk and metal roots to honky-tonk drums, mandolin picking, and leading Low Landers, Jesse’s music knows no bounds!

🎸 Scott Bratton - Guitar

Scott Bratton was raised on country music, bringing soulful vocals, sharp songwriting, and standout guitar work to the stage. A driving force in Rhett Family Band and founding member of Low Landers, his rhythm guitar and harmonies help define both bands’ sounds.

🐾 Kurt Hubbard - Bass

New York-born Kurt Hubbard found his musical home in Indiana, where he caught the bluegrass bug and became a fixture in the local scene as a musician and festival volunteer. Now an essential part of Low Landers’ sound on bass, Kurt spends his downtime chasing around his four dogs.

🎻 Devin Brown - Dobro

A multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Devin began performing alongside his father, Thom Brown, at age 15, who remains his biggest musical inspiration. A versatile sideman in the studio and on stage, Devin brings bass, guitar, harmonies, mandolin, and dobro to Low Landers and a wide range of original music projects.

Vibe? Spooky and groovy.

I don’t listen to music while I write, but I do listen to music to get in the mood to write. Here’s the playlist I listened to on repeat while creating “Ghosted by a Werewolf.”

The book is available tomorrow, 10/13, but the playlist can be streamed now if you want to get in the mood!

Some voices never fade.❤️

As we approach the third anniversary of Bonnie Lea Culpepper’s tragic passing we remember a gifted musician, beloved bandmate, and dedicated Coletrain Music Academy teacher. She was a beautiful soul who left us far too soon.

To honor her memory, fellow Coletrain instructor and longtime bandmate David Lawrence has released “Song for Bonnie,” a moving tribute featuring Coleman Smith (Yonder Mountain String Band), Alex Johnstone (Rapidgrass), Gary Sloan (The Blind Pigs), Mike Lang (Heavy Diamond Ring), and Niki Tredinnick (Dollhouse Thieves), produced by acclaimed Colorado producer Mark Anderson.

Bonnie’s love for teaching lives on through the Bonnie Lea Culpepper Music Scholarship, established in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chaffee County. Over the past two years, her scholarship has provided two young musicians from Salida and Buena Vista with free, private music lessons and passes to attend Camp Coletrain, opening doors to new opportunities, and experiences through the transformative power of music.

Now, we’re raising funds to give the next generation of young musicians that same opportunity.

This week, we invite you to celebrate Bonnie’s life by doing the things she loved. Get lost in the trees, lace up your skates, dig in the garden, listen to David’s beautiful tribute, and help us keep her legacy alive through music.

🎶 Listen to and download “Song for Bonnie” by @david.law.spoonful on all streaming platforms.
