Dreamy candlelit dinner at the sumptuous @thewhitehallleeds 😍🕯️

Particularly enjoyed the scallops & the colourful cocktail selection. Dishes we tried included:

- Snowball French onion soup with cheddar croute 🧀

- ⁠Scottish king scallops with heritage tomatoes & curd (my personal fave 👌🏻)

- ⁠Duo of West Moor pork (confit belly and stuffed loin) 🐽

- ⁠Sticky toffee pud with salted toffee sauce & black treacle ice cream 🖤

For £38 per person you get:

- 3 course meal, plus
- ⁠1/2 a bottle of wine each🥂

(Um literally a steal👌🏻👀)

This menu runs 5-7pm Monday to Saturday (unlike most deals which exclude the weekend 💃 🪩)

New Mexican spot in Leeds? 👀🌮

Madre has made the move over the Pennines and brought their tacos with them. The interior is proper eye-catching too — bright colours, modern feel, and one of those places that instantly puts you in a good mood.

We were invited down to try their tasting menu and it started simple with corn chips and guacamole, before moving onto four different tacos. The Baja fish taco was probably the standout for us 👀

Everything was washed down with cold bottles of Modelo, which felt right. Then came the surprise… crispy pork belly in a Mexican cola BBQ sauce. Honestly, you could go just for that.

There was also slow-cooked lamb with pistachio and avocado salsa, plus fire-roasted mushrooms — so it felt a bit more elevated than your usual taco spot.

We left very full and very happy 😅

If you fancy a bit of a Mexican food adventure, this one’s definitely worth a look.

Saturdays are about to look a little different at @house_of_koko_ in the city centre.
