What. A. Semester.

This has been both the best semester and worst semester of my life. Marching band has truly flipped a switch in me, and that family is nothing short of special to me. I thought I was going to hate my time on equipment but truthfully, I think it’s what kept me grounded and it gave me another purpose for marching band. Then I went to Chicago, and got to meet my online friends of 5+ years, which is INSANE to me. 15 year old Rylan would call you insane. I also saw System of A Down which, if you know me, is probably my all-time favorite band and an absolute dream of a concert. I couldn’t ask for a better trumpet studio, wind ensemble section, or jazz section. These guys have truly made the biggest impact ever on my life and I wouldn’t be half of who I am without them. So if you’re reading this Macey, Kierstyn, JP, CJ, Grace, and Cody, please know that I am truly blessed and grateful to wake up every day and make music with you guys. I also want to thank Dr. Ripley for believing in me with my leadership status and for helping guide me throughout the semester. Of course I can’t forget Dr. David Robinson and Dr. Gary Westbrook, for being the directors I didn’t have in high school, and while I had my moments, they never stopped believing. And finally, I thank the seniors. I thank Jordan for her constant humor and character, she is one of the most compassionate and caring individuals I have ever come to know. I want to thank Cody Moore for his ability to be relaxed but assertive, and for making sure everyone is included. I want to thank Cody Jackson for his creative mind, and being a helping hand if needed. And of course I cant forget Kaydence, who sometimes is like my ride or die, and despite her complaints, she shows up and shows out. Because of you guys, I want to stay in marching band, and it’s honestly incredibly bittersweet, because on one hand, I thank you all for your service and I’m excited to see where the road takes you, but on the other? I’m absolutely heartbroken, because you guys are family to me and I have to watch you go.

There’s so much more I want to say but I can’t think of anything.

First Disney dump. Had a great time with my group and I couldn’t have asked for better people. It was a great time and I enjoyed every moment. Shout out to the guardians of the Galaxy ride which is what the song is playing had.
