🎃 I showed my preschoolers Kusama’s pumpkins.
I didn’t show them how to make theirs.

Today we met Yayoi Kusama, the artist known for her iconic polka dots and pumpkins. 🟡🔴🟣

I told the kids three things:

1️⃣ Yayoi Kusama has been fascinated by dots since she was young.
2️⃣ She turned pumpkins into one of her most recognizable artworks.
3️⃣ Today, we were going to make our own.

Then I stopped talking.

And they took it from there.

One pumpkin became neon yellow with hot pink and purple dots:

✨ “It’s my magic pumpkin!”

Another became completely blue:

💙 “Pumpkins in the ocean are blue.”

And honestly?

Not one pumpkin looked the same.

That’s exactly what I wanted.

As a mom and an art teacher, I love watching kids discover that there isn’t always one “right” way to make something.

A preschooler doesn’t need to draw the perfect pumpkin.

Sometimes they just need the freedom to imagine one. 🎃

At the end of February, @little_words_big_art @sherry_yaru we hosted a children’s art auction that truly belonged to the kids 🤍

From creating to curating, from raising paddles to the final bid, every piece carried pure imagination and fearless expression. The brushstrokes of three-year-olds — raw, instinctive, and honest — felt like contemporary art in its most authentic form.

Thank you to every young artist, parent, and friend who supported us. Your presence turned art into a bridge for our community and allowed creativity to give back in a meaningful way.

We will be reaching out to families regarding auction proceeds soon. If you’d like to further support our future art programs, we are deeply grateful.

Art is not just an outcome — it’s the beginning of a child discovering their voice.
See you at the next one ✨

On Thursday’s class, we explored the theme “A Little Fish’s Home” and guided our young artists to create an imaginative 3D installation artwork.

The children began with a color experiment using absorbent paper, freely expressing their ideas of fish, seaweed, and the underwater world. As they painted, they experienced the magic of water blending with color — watching shades flow, spread, and transform.

Next, they carefully placed their fish, plants, and ocean elements inside a transparent sphere. With blue gems and a small candle added inside, each child created their own glowing “Underwater Night Light.”

When the lights were turned on, layers of color and shadow came alive — each piece becoming a tiny, luminous ocean world of its own.

✨ What children gained from this class:
• Fine motor skill development (painting & pasting)
• Stronger color perception & spatial imagination
• Improved focus and patience
• Confidence in free expression and creative thinking

In a calm and deeply engaged atmosphere, the children transformed flat images into three-dimensional art.
Every little night light is one of a kind — carrying each child’s pure and magical vision of the sea 💙

Some recent custom orders I’ve been working on ✨
As a mom of two little ones under three, it’s honestly so hard to carve out time for a job I truly love. My only me time is after both kids finally fall asleep — and I pour all of it into embroidery.

There’s something so calming about stitching… it lets me step away from the endless mess and tiny chaos of daily life, and gives my mind a quiet place to rest. 🧵💛

Thank you @shaly_art for gifting us this lovely summer dress with a matching hat. I must say that it keeps Sydney safe at the beach: She doesn't rush into the deep ocean as she always does because she wants to keep her beautiful dress dry!
