Saturday visit — Espace Aygo ✨

Last Saturday I had the chance to visit @espaceaygo in Brussels, during a tour organized by @youngartaddicts — and I honestly left feeling inspired.

Espace Aygo is the transformation of a 19th-century townhouse in Brussels into a living space and an atelier, created by a collective of young artists and designers. But calling it “a renovation” doesn’t do it justice: it’s a 100% DIY artistic experience, built with salvaged materials, handmade furniture, and a patchwork aesthetic where contemporary design meets craft.

What struck me most is that every room feels like a work of art — yet the house is fully functional.
The artists literally live inside their own creation. Art is not placed on walls: it becomes the walls, the stairs, the textures, the objects, the atmosphere. Old stained glass coexists with custom metal structures and papier-mâché surfaces, and somehow it all works — beautifully.

You can feel that the renovation process itself was part of the artwork: a continuous exercise in inventiveness, collaboration, and experimentation. Nothing is polished in a sterile way — everything feels alive, handmade, intentional.

A true example of art as a way of living: a fully immersive artwork, where architecture, craft, and everyday life merge into one.

Absolutely incredible. Brussels at its most creative. 🟡

Thank you @espaceaygo for welcoming the @youngartaddicts into your amazing project and home 🥰.

Espace Aygo was born from a collective of 4 designers who transformed a neglected 19th century townhouse into a place to live, create, and share. Built through a DIY and collaborative process, using reclaimed materials and collective energy, the space grew into a platform for exhibitions, workshops, and artistic exchange where art is not only shown but lived. Such an ambitious project!

Alain Pédrono exposed 4 times at the famous Guy Pieters art gallery in Knokke in 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993. The French artist died in 1999 at the young age of 48. The artwork was purchased at the 1991 exposition.

La période New York :
« Pédrono projette sur sa toile des taches de couleurs violantes, enflammant cabines téléphoniques, chaises de café, fontaines wallace, automobiles et autres éléments du mobilier urbain ou niant rageusement, par quelques épaisses hachures noires ou blanches, le rythme banal et programmé d’une journée ordinaire. Le désir pur est alors à l’œuvre. La peinture gestuelle, l’abstraction lyrique perturbant soudain le propos hyperréaliste, telle est l’originalité profonde de Pédrono. »

In 1948, Caziel was charged by the Polish government to present Picasso a traditional Polish black Heath sheep coat. When Caziel went to offer the coat to Picasso the two men struck up an immediate friendship. Picasso had visited Poland after the war and in 1948 was decorated by the Polish president for his contribution to the Franco-Polish cultural collaboration efforts.
When Caziel first entered Picasso's studio he was amazed to see attached to Picasso's easel his very own design for the 1948 edition of the Unesco catalogue. Picasso confessed he was using Caziel's drawing as inspiration for a portrait of his young son Claude.
The two artists embraced each other warmly and so began their close intimate relationship.

Come and discover the world of Caziel on our stand A35 @fabparisfair

Posting this one very late but I actually tried a very nice concept a few weeks ago.
I went on an art tour with @youngartaddicts to discover @collectiblefair founded by @livvaisberg
Not only I had a better view of the fair, but entering the designers universe and hearing their stories is an incredible experience.
As @livvaisberg said it so well « Design becomes more and more narrative » 💙
