POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

On this birthday, I do not want to write about survival.
Not because life has not tried me. God knows it has.
But because I think there is something equally important in pausing to witness oneself outside of pain.
So today, I want to speak about the author.

Millicent.
Carly.
Ayebatonfamoworio Braah.
A name that means, “God has already planned it.”
And strangely enough, my life has always carried that rhythm.
Not certainty.
Not control.
But a kind of unexplainable assurance that somehow, things eventually arrange themselves around me.

I think one of the most fascinating things about being me is that I am never finished surprising myself.
There is always another layer.
Another contradiction.
Another room in my mind waiting to be entered.

I can be deeply emotional and wildly logical in the same breath.
Soft-hearted and terribly sharp mouthed.
The type to defend the people I love with my full chest and then insult them affectionately ten minutes later 😭

I love hard.
Sometimes unwisely.
Sometimes excessively.
But never halfway.

Friendship, to me, has never been casual.
It is one of the greatest loves of my life.
And somehow, God has continuously blessed me through people.
Strangers who became family.
Conversations that became destiny.
Ordinary encounters that quietly changed the direction of my life.

That kind of grace humbles me every time I think about it.

And maybe what I admire most about myself is this:
I have never allowed life to make me bitter.
Not heartbreak.
Not disappointment.
Not betrayal.
Somehow, I still remain curious about life.
Still interested in people.
Still capable of laughter so intense it almost feels irresponsible

And ah yes, my humour.
Very wicked humour.
The kind that not everybody understands immediately, but the people who do? They almost always become my people.

I think I have spent a large part of my life observing others.
Writing about them.
Romanticising them.
Trying to understand what makes people who they are.
