When kitchen curiousity becomes a sweet obsession.. you get @eatcreaminal , an ice cream joint out of a Thai restaurant in Santa Barbara. 🍦

In the mid 2010's, the restaurant hit a rough patch. On their off days, @pitithecreaminal & @itskathy408 would drive to Santa Barbara from LA to help out at the family restaurant. Everything from food, desserts, customer service.. anything to save it. That's when Piti watched his mom making coconut ice cream for the restraurant and something clicked.

Piti and Kathy didn't intend to take over the struggling family restaurant, it just happened. And the idea of Creaminal was born -- Specializing in ice cream flavors and sundae concoctions that evoke nostalgia and happiness. Blending memory and flavor into something you could taste. 😋🍨

Bite into this delicious dessert at Family Style Food Festival at ComplexCon on October 3-4! Tickets out now 🎟️

Most people think they understand Santa Barbara: ocean views, rooftop patios, wine by the water.

But another layer of the city quietly exists through noodle shops, sushi counters, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 & 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝, tea houses and recipes carried across oceans and generations.

Santa Barbara has a surprisingly deep connection to Asian flavors and the people behind them.

These are some of the spots I keep coming back to when I want something that feels honest, comforting, and rooted in culture.

Save this for your next trip to Santa Barbara.
