POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A year and a half ago, a JAMA article titled What Physicians Wish Patients Knew About Parkinson’s Disease sparked a lively discussion within the Parkinson’s community.

One comment stuck with me:

“What we really need is an article about what patients wish our physicians understood about living with Parkinson’s disease.”

That conversation led to discussions with Dr. Indu Subramanian, Dr. Isaac Goldszer, and others about the patient experience. It also helped inspire many of the ideas that eventually became Oh Crap! It’s Parkinson’s.

A few weeks ago, I shared that story with the Stanford Young-Onset Parkinson’s Support Group.

Then something unexpected happened.

I was invited to speak at Neurology Grand Rounds at Henry Ford Hospital by Dr. Goldszer, the movement disorder specialist featured in the original article.

The irony wasn’t lost on either of us.

What began as a conversation about what physicians wished patients understood had come full circle into an opportunity to help physicians better understand the patient experience.

I’m grateful for physicians who listen, patients who share their stories, and conversations that move us all forward.

Progress happens when we learn from one another.

@movementdetroit owes me nothing. First solo music festival and I am full. Synced with strangers. Met myself. Highly recommend.

The last time I attended Movement was in 2009—back when it was DEMF. Swipe for a surprise 🤭

When I started in this game (way back in ‘99) I never knew of anyone who made a career out of being a flyer designer. Truth be told, I still don’t, but after all these years they are still one of the main products I regularly get requests for. Crazy how far they’ve taken me and they are still one of my favorite products to work on. Do you need a flyer for something?
