Community rarely begins with grand gestures. It begins with proximity.

👋🏾 A conversation while waiting in line for food.
👋🏾 Someone waving you down for the group photo.
👋🏾 Running into an old friend you haven’t seen in years.

Meeting someone new and realizing you’ve known the same people all along.

✨That is the quiet magic of the BWB Family Reunion. ✨

Every year, thousands of Black people gather with the shared intention of being in community with one another.

Strangers become neighbors. Neighbors become friends. Friends become chosen family.

And little by little, a city that can sometimes feel isolating begins to feel a little smaller. A little warmer. A little more like home. 🫂

Because belonging doesn’t happen from a distance.

It happens when we come close enough to laugh together, share stories, celebrate milestones, and remind each other that none of us were meant to navigate Boston or life alone.

That is why Family Reunion matters.

Not because it brings people together for a day, but because the connections made here become friendships, collaborations, support systems, and community that carry us long after the music ends.

That is the kind of belonging we are building.

TODAY IS THE DAY!!! We can't wait for a Joyful BreakUp Party on the Greenway!!! It's going to be hot, so we're taking extra steps to help keep everyone safe.

Here's what you can do as well:
Stay hydrated
Dress for the heat
Take breaks in the shade
Wear sunscreen
Listen to your body and look out for one another

The Joyful BreakUp Party is happening today, July 1st, at 5:30pm - 9pm at the Rose Kennedy Greenway at Dewey Square (in front of Boston artist, Rixy's "The Midnight Ride" mural, across from South Station)

We invite you to come jam and dance it out with us on a beautiful summer night!!

You've shared your disappointment, your anger, your love, your grief, your hope—and everything in between. Together, we've created space to reflect on our complicated relationship with the United States and imagine something different. Something better.

On July 1, we're taking over the Rose Kennedy Greenway, with the stunning backdrop of Boston artist Rixy's new mural, The Midnight Ride.

This year was meaningful for our team. We supported over 100 families, partnered with Massachusetts high schools to provide behavioral health services, trained therapeutic mentors, and showed up for our community through sneaker and toy giveaways, youth panels, and important conversations around mental health.

We’re grateful to every family, partner, and sponsor who trusted us with this work. Thank you for being part of what made 2025 impactful. 💜

Our Power + Peace: Sound Healing Workshop for Men of Color is being rescheduled for the fall.
