At Kinetic, we salon a little differently:

1. Family can be toxic, we work hard to not be.
2. Clients belong to the stylist they’re loyal to!
3. The only benchmark you need to hit to increase your price is your own.
4. The customer can absolutely be wrong, and you can absolutely turn away a client.
5. Fully booked is what you want it to be, no more, no less. Don’t burn yourself out babe, raise your prices & let some clients go.
6. Stylists don’t ever have to justify why sitting in their chair costs what it does. Not a one other industry is questioned… stop explaining. If a client can’t afford it, you can make adjustments to compromise or refer them to a stylist in their budget.
7. We’re not therapists, full stop. If we were, your insurance would cover your hair appointment. Imagine that.
8. Stop placing value for other people. What one wants to spend on themselves is for them to decide.
9. Flat rate makes sense, à la carte leads to miscommunication & sticker shock.
10. We respect ourselves & our time. You will too.

This one’s for stylists who may be looking for a new place to land… and for clients who want to understand the why behind some of our policies.

We work hard, and are proud to be here.

Open 7 days a week, hourly rates, always gratuity free.

Slide into my DM’s if we have ever chatted referrals/ you’re starting a new venture & want to spread the word/ you’re an LGBTQ+ company/small business/entrepreneur just trying to make it in these streets!

One thing I love about hairstyling in salon is our network. As @kinetic.nyc client list grows to over 2000, we are CONSTANTLY referring clients to other clients.

Mostly it’s in passing. I know that if I don’t write shit down, it doesn’t stay in my brain for long. Having a directory removes the “shit, who was that person Nat was talking about for funky tattoos”.

Really excited for this one. Feel free to comment, but please DM so I can move to an email thread so I can manage you all.

Xoxo
