Why is the Bible so hard to understand sometimes?

If you struggle to read the Bible, understand Scripture, or stay consistent with Bible reading, you’re not alone.

You don’t have to understand everything. Just keep coming back.

What if you've been chasing the wrong thing?

Most of us wait for peace to arrive once everything settles down. It never quite does.

Peace isn't the absence of problems. The Bible's word is shalom, and it means wholeness. Nothing missing. Nothing broken. Right in the middle of them.

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives." (John 14:27)

The world's peace comes when things cooperate. The peace Jesus offers doesn't have to wait.

Have you been waiting for the problems to go, when the offer is peace and wholeness in the middle of them?

As the catastrophic landslide and flash floods devastate communities on the Nepal-Tibet border, we join together to pray for provision, relief and restoration.

Lord, we ask you to protect every person involved in the disaster response, for supplies to reach the right areas, and for hope and help to come quickly to those who need it. Draw near to those who are grieving and give them your peace which passes all understanding.
Amen.

What do you do with the things you wish you'd never done?

Most of us hide them and hope nobody looks too closely.

But shame is not conviction. Conviction draws you toward God. Shame drives you away to hide.

"There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:1)

Not less condemnation. None.

Have you ever felt like God's love depends on how well you're doing?

Good week, God is pleased. Bad week, God is disappointed. A lot of us carry that quietly.

But a child doesn't earn a family. They simply belong to one.

"While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

Two minutes today. Just receive it. No earning, no repaying.

Trying to earn God's approval, or child who already belongs? Which one do you feel like today?
