In 1970, the Young Lords, the Black Panthers, and local health workers started the Lincoln Detox People’s Program at 349 E. 140th Street.

The ear acupuncture protocol they developed there is now used in recovery programs around the world.

Next week, we break ground on the building’s next chapter: the HEArts Center. It will be a home for health, education, and arts, stewarded by the Mott Haven–Port Morris Community Land Stewards, our community land trust.

Groundbreaking Ceremony: Wed 9/23, 11am
Community Celebration: Sat 9/26, 1–6pm.
