What an experience like no other. To be apart of Yabun at this capacity, I am truly honoured to have gotten this over the line with such an amazing team in a 5-6 week turn around. Thank you to all the artists, performers, stall holders and general community for being apart of something so special.

There’s a number of mob I want to shoutout of course!

@the_isaac_compton & @majedabeatty - honestly your energy, stories, humour and spirit brought the energy that was needed for the whole day. So many mob are so proud of you both for hosting #yabun2024, and the joy was evident of what something like this means to you both individually onto our greater community.

To all the mob at Gadigal Information Service and the external people that are apart of Yabun, what an absolute honour to work with you all and to push what we did in the timeframe! I am so grateful to have met all of you for the first time and to make a greater impact into what the future can hold for this type of community festival.

And lastly, @wright.miah the Queen of Yabun. I am very grateful you brought me on to be apart of this and I can’t thank you enough. I learned so much from you, and despite the corners you were put in to turn this around, you did it, you absolutely nailed it! You created inspiration within others that came from strong actions through strong leadership, and I felt that’s why our team worked extremely well together to pull this off! Again, thank you 🙏🏽

But man, what a ride! 3 festivals in 4 months, definitely need a holiday at some point. Any suggestions you mob 😅

Always with love

If you missed our deadly podcast launch last week, don’t worry, you mob can still listen in to Episode 1 of our new podcast Seeds of Change 🎧🌱

Join Gavin Ivey and special guests, as we explore the deadly leaders, organisations and programs igniting change through Aboriginal-led education.

At Tranby, we are proud to stand on a foundation of 65 years of Aboriginal-led social action. We pay our respects and gratitude to the leaders of the past who ignited these movements, advocating for our people and demanding equity and freedom in education and beyond 🙏🏾💥

Tranby is 65 of more than 65,000 years of knowledge, community and cultural education.

Together we are Dreaming, Gathering and Growing our stories✨

Deadly photo from a special #blackbooks panel at the recent Sydney Writers Festival held on Gadigal Land. The amazing and talented Sandra Phillips MC’d the panel, yarning with some of the incredible First Nations LGBTQI+SB poets featured in our Nangamay (dream) Mana (gather) Djurali (grow) collection.

Special shout out to Latoya Aroha Rule, Gavin Ivey, Luke Paterson and Keith Quayle for sharing their words, truth and writing process 🙏🏾📚

For the next Queer Elders Lunch we are going to need a bigger table 🌈🤩🖤

It was wonderful to share yarns, holiday stories and excitement for the upcoming Sydney world pride with Queer mob and allies at our last lunch @tranbyaboriginalcooperative

These events have provided an important place for our Queer Elders to guide, support and empower our young Queer community. We are grateful for the paths they have walked before us and those we are walking in their footsteps.

With @sydneyworldpride starting this month, the next Queer Elders lunch is sure to be a big one! Stay tuned for details 🌈🖤🏳️‍⚧️🍽
