POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s been 1 month and 11 days since my last day at the AFS Creative Careers Program. I’m very happy with my journey there and it has brought a lot of great friends and a lot of great opportunities.

I remember the day I got my letter and how excited I was to start this next chapter. Now that it’s ended, I can’t help but wish it was longer. Nonetheless the time was really special with my cohort and our instructors. They really have shined a path for us.

Thank you Austin Film Society.

What’s it like to travel back in time?

Recently, the team drove to the historic town of Liberty, Texas, to conduct some principal interviews. We were fortunate enough to speak with several of Governor Bill Daniel’s good friends and mentees, such as Dan Forney and Charles Wiggins to relive stories of their youth and adulthood beside Bill Daniel. Bill’s friendly, adventurous and paternal nature shone through during these interviews as we asked questions about his civic life, showmanship, charitable endeavors, world travels, and his lasting impact.

We also had the incredible privilege to interview the “Tripod,” which is comprised of Bill Daniel’s three daughters; Ann Rogers, Susan Daniel, and Dani Brister. While listening to them speak, I would find myself closing my eyes and watching the documentary unfold. They each inherited Bill’s natural ability as a storyteller, making my eyes water with tears and my stomach hurt with laughter as they told us interesting, heartfelt and hilarious stories about his life.

The Tripod seemed to have also inherited their mother Vara Faye’s kind nature and hospitality, as the entire film crew was made comfortable and treated like family. Catherine, one of Ann Rogers’ daughters, was also on hand to help us feel welcomed and fed. We cannot thank them enough for inviting a group of 20 something strangers with cameras so kindly into their home.

This project is still in the beginning stages. We are spending the next year filming additional interviews (as more people become our personal time machines).

If you’d like to speak to us about Governor Bill Daniel and his impact on your life, please DM us or email us at letemrolldoc@gmail.com. Thank you, and “Let ‘em Roll!”

yadda yadda mountains & valleys. blah blah blah love

jk

if i think too much about it i’ll ruin it, but an unexpected trip to big bend was definitely not in my 2025 bingo. let alone during the last few days of the year.

all i know is i’m going to keep climbing mountains (real and metaphorical). one step in front of the other. would recommend having supportive and loving companions for both journeys.

¡¡¡gracias escuincles!!!
