Do you know how to knit? I don’t, but this fun book includes directions in the back, and now I’m ready to give it a try! Thanks to the story, I even know what supplies I’ll need—and luckily, I already have the black cat!

I’m loving the return of “grandma-core” hobbies! Are you a knitter, crocheter, sourdough baker, or do you have another cozy hobby you love?

Thank you, @randomhousekids, for this fun #gifted book!

Synopsis
A crafty little witch and cast of distracting ghosts give knitting advice in this sweet and funny story that includes step-by-step instructions so little ones can knit their very own ghost!

Knitting a ghost is easy.
To knit a ghost, you need to cast on some stitches.
Cast? Like a spell?
Nope. Different kind of casting.

Join a little witch on her knitting journey as she navigates ghostly distractions, a hungry cat, tangled yarn... and learns that real magic comes from not giving up—even when things become trying.

Includes Knitting for Little Witches at the back, a step-by-step knitting guide so your little witches can put their newly acquired skills to use! Perfect for grown-up crafters to share with kids or for young knitters eager to try their first project.

Such a fun day celebrating “Bitsy Bat, School Star” on Reading Rainbow at the new Anythink Nature Library. Even if our episode isn’t the most viewed, to so many kids who have not seen a positive representation of autism, this episode is THE WHOLE WORLD. Thank you @mychal3ts and @readingrainbow for making big star dreams come true. @anythinklibraries @simonkids #autismacceptance #kidsbooks #readingrainbow Kaz Windness at Anythink nature Library in Thornton, Colorado holding up a copy of Bitsy bat School star and autism acceptance picture book now on Reading rainbow.

Having a ball at the 50th annual Letters and Line conference this beautiful weekend in Golden, at the School of Mines. I met Kate DiCamillo!! 🤩 Both she and Grace Lin were here. Which makes this conference beyond legendary! My friend Stephanie and I made her gifts (I made Edward Tulane the rabbit - I hadn’t made a stuffed toy in ages, so that was super fun), East West Agency family (Megan Freenan, Amber Owen, and Heather Brockman Lee pictured; missing Lauren Kerstein), friend Alison Pearce Stevens and I walked around town. Tomorrow I’m presenting on a panel about how Rocky Mountain SCBWI impacted our creative careers. More to post later!

Book mail is basically my favorite kind of mail 📚🩷

We got a mix of cozy fall reads, sweet family stories, and a little adventure. I especially love finding Halloween books that still feel fun and festive without being scary.

I’ll share more as we read through them, but which one would your little pick first?

Comment LIST for the links to these books.
