“I had so much fun”- Kozume Kenma

When coming to UVF, I wanted to be involved in something—because why not. I thought why not try volleyball? I heard it was “fun” and not too competitive. I had zero experience, but figured it couldn’t hurt to try. Freshman year, the team was just starting out. I saw it as a chance to grow and be good at it. My first game was rough. I realized I wasn’t as skilled as I thought, and it was competitive. In freshman year, I was at my lowest point—I almost quit. I thought this was a waste of time. But I couldn’t give up. If the team wasn’t giving up on me, then I wouldn’t give up on them. And for that, I was glad that I stayed. This program helped me grow physically, mentally and spiritually. Standing on the court with my brothers over the last four years has been a blessing. I’ve watched this team grow and evolve, and I’m proud to have been a part of this journey.

One of my goals for this season was not only make it to playoffs, but to stay on the court for as long as I could—because I knew I wouldn’t get this experience again. To enjoy every moment—every minute, every set, every kill, every dig. And when that final whistle was heard, I was glad that I accomplished it—knowing I gave it everything.
All the hard work, the sweat, the dives, the tears, I give it all to Jesus, who was with me through every win and every loss.

I’m forever grateful, humbled, and blessed to be part of this team. I’m proud of every single one of my teammates-my brothers-for how far we’ve come together.

To my brothers—my day ones and recent ones—to all my coaches, and everyone who supported this program—thank you for making these four years memorable. ❤️🏐

Words can’t express how fun this year was with the boys. Through the ups and downs, we faced adversity head on through it all and I wouldn’t want to do with with anyone else, love this team and I am so glad I got to spend my first year of VB with these guys. It was a fun year 1 🤙🏐 @uvfmensvolleyball #volleyball #d3volleyball

Happy Birthday my love
Never did I think I would find someone who truly cares about me and takes care of me in all aspects of my life.
You have made my life worth living and helped me get through some of the toughest times. You have seen me at my worst and never thought for a second to run away from that. Ive never been happier and i cant wait for our future together. I love you 😚🥰
