Your provider can't help with what they don't know. Neither can AI.

One-word answers and no background leave your provider working blind. AI works the same way. It can hold all the medical knowledge in the world and still miss the mark without your full context.

And most of us hold back. In a national survey, 60% to 80% of people said they had withheld medically relevant information from a clinician. Women were more likely to hold back, and the top reason was not wanting to be judged.

Bring the full picture: your medical and family history, a timeline of your symptoms and your actual lab work. That's how you get answers that fit you.

A plan only works if you can actually follow it. That's where AI and a good care team make the difference: helping you take the first step, then the next one.

Think of it like a fitness coach. You don't go from the couch to a marathon. You walk, then jog, then run.

Real behavior change takes time. In a well-known study of 96 adults building a new daily habit, it took a median of 66 days to feel automatic, and exercise habits took longer. Missing a single day didn't derail progress.

Now imagine your labs, medical history, wearables, fitness and diet all connected in one place, guiding each step. That's the platform we're building at Nava.

Your health changes every day. Most health plans get revisited once a year, maybe every few months. Precision medicine means a plan that keeps up.

Imagine AI that recalibrates with you. A stressful morning shifts today's plan. A change in your diet adjusts what comes next. Not once a year. Every day.

The tools are already on people's wrists. About 2 in 5 US adults used a wearable for their health in 2024, up from 30% in 2020. But in one survey, 78.4% of users were willing to share that data with their provider, and only 26.5% had.

The goal isn't following an app blindly. It's understanding your body so well that choosing broccoli over the drive-thru becomes second nature.

A good doctor wants you involved in your health. When you understand why things are happening, you're more likely to follow the plan.

The research backs it up. A meta-analysis of 48 studies linked better physician-patient collaboration to better adherence, in adults and kids, chronic and acute conditions, primary care and specialists. Another found the odds of patients sticking with treatment were 2.16 times higher when their physician communicated well.

Adherence is what turns a plan into results. Your involvement isn't a threat to good care. It's how good care works.

Personalized medicine is the difference between old medicine and new. Two people the same age and sex can have very different biology underneath.

In the PREDICT 1 study of 1,002 adults, including identical twins, people had wildly different blood sugar, insulin and triglyceride responses to the exact same meals. Much of that variation came from factors you can change, not genes. And a machine learning model could predict each person's responses.

That's where AI can earn its place: helping providers turn that much data into a plan built for you. Diet, exercise and sleep still matter. Personalization is how you know which version is right for you.

More and more people are taking ownership of their health. They want to understand what's happening in their bodies, not just hand it all over to a physician.

That ownership pays off. In a study of more than 32,000 adults, people with higher patient activation, meaning the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage their own health, had better results on 9 of 13 health outcomes two years later. That included more preventive screenings for women. When activation changed, outcomes tended to move with it.

Ownership isn't blame for where you are. It's deciding to understand your body and own where you're going.

When a doctor won't run the labs you're asking about, sometimes it's ego. Sometimes it's insurance.

Insurance decides what's "medically necessary." Labs ordered to explore symptoms or look deeper can get denied, even when you and your provider both want answers.

Denials are common. In 2024, insurers on HealthCare.gov denied 19% of in-network claims, and fewer than 1% of denials were appealed. When people did appeal, about a third of denials were overturned.

A good provider wants the data to make the best clinical decisions. A good care model makes it possible to get it.

Your health insurance wasn't built to optimize your health. Use it, but don't rely on it for your longevity.

Family coverage through an employer now averages about $27,000 a year in premiums, with workers paying about $6,850 of that. Yet many people hesitate to spend out of pocket on the labs and longer visits that look at prevention, not just disease.

The other half of the shift is on providers. 29% of adults now use AI for health information at least monthly, up from 17% in 2024. Patients are walking in with questions. The right response isn't "I know and you don't." It's curiosity. And if something is outside a provider's wheelhouse, a referral to someone who can help.

Weight gain doesn't always mean you were doing something wrong. And it doesn't always mean you were overeating.

What drives metabolic dysfunction looks different for every woman. It could be undereating, the wrong foods for your body, the wrong type of exercise for you, or things that have nothing to do with diet and exercise at all.

Chronic stress is a big one. In a 14-year study of 10,308 adults ages 35 to 55, people with chronic work stress were more than twice as likely to have metabolic syndrome, independent of other risk factors.

So the answer isn't always "eat less, move more." It's finding what's driving it for you, and sometimes that starts with getting a handle on stress.

When does weight loss medication make sense? Zach says anything over 10 pounds. Stephanie says 15, but only if the foundation is already there.

That means you're already eating well, strength training and moving your body, and the weight still won't budge. That's when a low dose can be the tool that finishes the job, not a replacement for the work.

Either way, the decision starts with your full picture, labs included.

Too young for perimenopause in your 30s? Not necessarily. And "labs don't mean anything" isn't the full story.

Hormones can start shifting while cycles are still regular, and they swing month to month, so no single lab can confirm perimenopause. A good doctor knows the answer comes from labs and symptoms together: estrogen, progesterone and testosterone tracked over time, look-alikes like thyroid issues ruled out, and a close look at your symptoms.

In a meta-analysis of 9,141 women, perimenopause carried a 40% higher risk of depression than premenopause. With new anxiety, low mood or insomnia, perimenopause belongs on the list.

That's the conversation you deserve.

Prescriptions for weight loss medication have skyrocketed. The nutrition and fitness support around them hasn't kept up.

By 2024, 12% of US adults had used one. Yet a joint advisory from four medical and nutrition societies says nutrition and behavioral support alongside these medications still isn't widespread. In one small survey of users, only 20% had been referred to a dietitian, and fewer than half ate enough protein to protect muscle.

Too many people aren't being taught how to eat on these medications, or how to get in the gym and build muscle while they're on them.

The prescription is the easy part. The support is what protects your results.
