Backstage Catering Saints Weekend in the Sawtooths-Day 1.

I had no idea what to expect when I agreed to travel to Stanley, Idaho to cook for the artists and their guests during the Shane Smith & The Saints hosted music festival @mountainvillage resort.

Two flights and a three-hour drive from Boise later, I was greeted by this mountain paradise. Creeks to paddle, rivers to fish, mountains to hike, hot springs, off road trails, and 3 million acres of public land to explore. Everything an outdoorsman could ask for packed into one tiny town with a population of around 100 people. I bet I met half the town while I was there, and I can say they are some great folks.

For Day 1, we sourced Idaho elk from Timber Butte Ranch and turned it into Elk Smashburger Sliders. We even brought Chuckwagon Burgers Signature Seasoning all the way from Texas to give them that Chuckwagon flavor.

Elk Smashburger Slider Bar
- King’s Hawaiian Rolls
- Smashed Elk Patties
- Sharp Cheddar
- Grilled Onions
- Grilled Jalapeños
- Shredduce
- Tomato
- Condiment Station

Shoutout to the artists who rocked the stage on Day 1 and got Saints Weekend started right!

One of our favorite weekends of the year is almost here!

Wretched Mess Fest returns to West Yellowstone September 11–12th, bringing together fly fishing, art, conservation, music, and a community that appreciates the beautifully imperfect side of the sport.

We’ll be there all weekend and can’t wait to see familiar faces, meet new ones, and celebrate everything that makes fly fishing more than just time on the water.

Check out this year’s poster, mark your calendars, and stay tuned. See you in September!
