Here are the facts:
Most of the time when you lose your board, it ends up upwind of you (behind you).

Getting back through the water is key – here’s how to nail it:

👉 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 after you lose your board. Don’t waste time – you’re drifting downwind fast!

📐 𝐁𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
• One-handed kite control ready
• Legs straight & together = like a fin
• Streamlined body for minimal resistance
• Front arm extended, back hand on the bar
• Slight torso twist into the wind

🪁 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥
• Keep the kite low – between 10–11 or 1–2 o’clock
• Maintain steady line tension – no slack!

🧭 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
• Use your body like a rudder
• Make small, controlled bar movements to steer
• Zig-zag upwind in smooth, steady angles
• Always look where you’re going

⚠️ 𝐀𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬
• Kite too high = drifting downwind
• Legs apart = less control
• Slack lines = kite stalling
• Pulling too hard = oversteering & crashes

💡 𝐏𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐩
• Practice both sides evenly – it could save your session!
• Do fewer, longer runs in one direction (about 15 seconds) instead of many short ones – you lose upwind position with every change of direction. 🪁

How to launch a foil kite - made simple!

If you’ve never used a foil kite before, launching one might look a bit chaotic at first. But don’t worry — it’s easier than it seems!

Unlike inflatable tube kites, foil kites don’t need to be pumped up. Instead, they’re made up of multiple chambers that fill with air automatically as the wind flows through them.

The most important part? Keep the kite low to the ground while it fills with air. Give it time to take shape before launching - rushing it will only make things harder.

Once it’s fully inflated, you’re ready to go. Try it yourself - light wind fun has never been this smooth!
