Right now, the U.S. government is carrying out a genocidal blockade against the Cuban people in complete violation of the country’s sovereignty and international law.

Cubans don’t just need our passive support, they need collective action and solidarity! Join us at AAB, where you can get plugged into the Cuban solidarity movement and relief efforts. ¡Viva Cuba Libre!

Cuba is not a threat — the U.S. blockade is. It’s time to end the U.S. blockade on Cuba, once and for all! Let Cuba live!

✊🏿 HAPPY JUNETEENTH, CHICAGO‼️

Juneteenth and the Black liberation struggle reminds us that no one will hand us freedom. From the Black soldiers who liberated the South, to the international struggle of our working class Cuban brothers and sisters under the U.S. blockade, it has always been clear that we must be steadfast in the fight for our sovereignty.

Our culture is an important part of that resistance as it helps shape, preserve, and ignite our movement. The poetry of Nicolas Guillen, Nancy Morejon and the evergreen lessons from Assata Shakur’s writing serve as an example for us as Artists Against the Blockade to recognize the magnitude of working class cultural production and the responsibility we have as revolutionary cultural workers have in making freedom realizable. They not only wrote about the Black struggle, but dedicated their lives to anti-racist, anti-imperialist, and socialist politics.

Cultural workers are not separate from the movement, they are embedded and organized. We invite you to join us July 26 for the third annual Artists Against the Blockade event to fundraise for the @hatueyproject and continue our solidarity with the Cuban socialist project against the genocidal blockade and our united fight for liberation.

🇨🇺 Onwards and upwards until we are all free.
