🏠 Ask Me How I Am

TRIGGER WARNING: this film discusses real life experiences of self-harm which some viewers may find upsetting.

Mental health charity Fullscope approached us to make a film about young people’s experience of self-harm.

Over the course of a school term or two, via workshops and interviews within a couple of schools, we engaged with groups of young people to create a piece of work that authentically reflected their experience.

It was a real honour to be trusted with such delicate, raw and personal stories.

The openness and honesty of the participants meant a great deal to us, and we felt a real responsibility to make a film that honoured and supported their stories.

Are you coming to Sheffield DocFest?

Come check this!

Stitch n Bitch Editors will be offering consultancies

Thursday and Friday, from 10am
Cutler’s Hall, Sheffield

Making a documentary is a hard slog, particularly in this time of shrinking budgets and limited funding opportunities. And for independent documentary makers it can often be fairly late in their career before they get to sit down with a professional editor.

And that’s a real shame because a good documentary editor (the clue is in the name) doesn’t just push buttons: they are an integral part of the editorial process and will look at your project with the question: “how can I help this person tell the best possible story with this material?”

Stitch n bitch have assembled a panel of highly experienced editors with many festival films, TV hours and some sparkly awards under their belts, and we will be at DocFest to give you the expert edit therapy you need.

You can show up at the consultancies and book a session with our team. Bring your sizzle or an outline of your story structure. Or just bring questions about entering the industry, organising your rushes or how much edit time to allocate in your budget, there’s no problem we can’t cut through!
We’d love to see you, and to help support your film being the best it could possibly be.

Book here for Thursday slots:

Inconsistent Sherrel is back! 😂 Time to make this a permanent part of my feed.

Last year, I had the amazing opportunity to work with UK filmmaker @zanbar79 and BBC Studios producer, Sarah Patten, on a documentary about the impact of Sargassum seaweed in Antigua and Barbuda🇦🇬

We teamed up with @marineecology268, @haldain.10, @ruletacamacho from the National Parks Authority, and our team members @jcstarss and @miquel916 to highlight the importance of our conservation work💪🏾

This project gave me hands-on experience in storytelling and professional filmmaking🎥, plus my first time piloting my drone for the documentary—definitely nerve-wracking but exciting!😅

Most people know my passion for photography, but filmmaking has always been a part of me too, from high school “bootleg films” to starting a YouTube channel about ecology and university life. Now in my job- sharing the conservation efforts in Antigua, Barbuda, and Redonda.

Working with Zan and Sarah was such an amazing opportunity, and I can’t wait to keep learning, with hopes of creating my own environmental or conservation documentary one day. Thanks again, Zan and Sarah!❤️
