“ᬩᬭᭀᬂ” (Barong) represents the sacred Balinese guardian spirit, a mythical creature that wards off darkness and restores balance. The mix draws on Barong’s presence as both a symbolic protector and a spiritual performer. Sacrilegious or radical expression? To some, disrupting the traditional framework of ancestral folk music may seem jarring, even irreverent. But to us, it is an act of rediscovery and celebration. Reinterpreting these sounds is not a rejection, but a bridge between ancient and contemporary art forms. A way to honor tradition by allowing it to evolve. Ethnotronica or Deconstructed club genres are all examples of radical creativity. Fusing gamelan with downtempo, techno, and ambient styles offers a landscape where heritage and innovation coexist.
