Remembering the legendary James Dean, who passed away on this day in 1955. He was 24.

Dean was traveling in his new Porsche 550 Spyder, nicknamed “Little Bastard,” en route to a race. He was killed on present-day route 46 near Cholame, CA, when a Ford Tudor made a left turn in front of Dean’s forward path. Jimmy, who had the right of way, could not stop or maneuver away in time. Despite reports that Dean had been speeding earlier in the day, police on the scene said he was most likely going 55 mph at the time of the accident.

Jimmy’s indelible mark on the world has endured long after his passing. His work, both on screen and off, became part of the cultural fabric of our lives, inspiring generations and leaving an imprint that time cannot erase.

“If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, if he can live on after he’s dead, then maybe he was a great man.” -James Dean

James Byron Dean (February 8, 1931 - September 30, 1955)

🩸The Descent (2005) & The Descent Part 2 (2009)🩸4K Steelbooks • Blu-ray Steelbook

The Descent is a fantastic horror movie and one that has always made me think twice about ever going into a cave system. Seriously, such a damn good movie. The atmosphere, claustrophobia, camera work, creatures, and kills are all so well done.

When The Descent Part 2 came out, I remember not understanding how it made any sense because the first version I watched had Sarah still trapped in the cave. I didn’t realize I had watched the original UK cut, where Sarah never actually escapes and hallucinates her freedom. The U.S. version changes the ending and has her escape, which obviously made Part 2 make a lot more sense once I finally saw it.

I went into Part 2 back in the day not expecting it to be that great because of all the mixed reviews. While it definitely isn’t as good as the original, I still enjoyed going back into that underground world and seeing those creepy creatures again.

The ending of Part 2 was really my only major gripe. It just wasn’t explained. I get that horror movies don’t always need to explain everything and sometimes leaving things open-ended is better, but with this one I was just sitting there like wtf? lol

Regardless, I absolutely love this series. The idea, atmosphere, camera shots, creatures, and kills make The Descent such an awesome horror experience. I’m also really happy we got these beautiful 4K releases from Lionsgate Limited.

I am loving the steelbook versions for the Hitchcock classics.
🩸 🎥
This awful weather has got me wanting to curl up and watch the classics. These are some of my favourites and I’m loving the artwork for them, especially the silhouette on the backs 👤
I really need to upgrade as many of these to 4K as I can, the transfers on the 4K steelbooks are so nice 👌🏻
