“Some projects start with a plan. This one started with a license plate.

I’ve always had a deep passion for unique plates — there’s something about the way a few characters can carry so much personality and place. So when I kept spotting the same Mercedes around town last summer, its plate stopping me every time — GAUCHO9 — I knew I had to do something with it. The vision was immediate: graduation photos, that car, that plate. A love letter to UCSB in the most Santa Barbara way possible.

I left a handwritten note on the windshield. And just like that, we had a plan.

I brought in my fellow photographer and friend HoffProdz to capture the shoot while my post-production editing brought the final vision to life. What emerged was a true collaboration — two creative perspectives, one shared vision. His eye behind the lens and my touch in the edit melted together in a way I’m genuinely proud of.

To the owner of that beautiful car: thank you. You didn’t have to say yes, and this project wouldn’t exist without your generosity.

I present GAUCHO9 — for every Gaucho who’s ever called this place home.” - @rachelzehn

Well… officially a @ucsbalumni with a B.A in Economics.

I never thought that only two years at UCSB would have allowed me to meet the lifelong friends I call family today. I can’t thank you guys enough for the impact you had on shaping the person I am today. It’s hard to turn the page, but my experiences and friendships here have opened the door to a beautiful journey, and I will carry those memories until the end of it.

Forever a Gaucho ✌️
