Alfredo Travieso (Caracas, Venezuela/Miami Based). Alter: @trashroom_gallery

$Alfredo Travieso Flag for Demagogues, 2026 In this foray into public sculpture, color and form converge on a shared visual plane. The work belongs to an ongoing series in which Travieso explores the notion of "spatial paintings," compositions that extend the logic of abstract geometric painting into three-dimensional space. Through the interplay of light, air, and color, these sculptures define presence and absence at once, emphasizing how emptiness can carry as much weight as matter itself. In Flag for Demagogues, the artist invokes the Venezuelan flag as a fractured emblem, a banner of vanished promises and exhausted ideals. Its warped geometry and cartoonish exaggeration suggest both parody and lament, transforming national symbolism into a poetic device for disillusionment. Travieso twists politics and abstraction into a single contemplative structure, where formal restraint meets emotional gravity, a meditation on failure, longing, and the fragile hope embedded in collective symbols. #alfredotravieso #zeligbot$

The opening night has passed, but UNDER PRESSURE is only just beginning. Thank you to everyone who walked through the gallery, lingered with the work, and made the space feel charged in all the right ways. We’re deeply grateful to our artists for trusting us with their extraordinary work, and to everyone who came to celebrate the start of the exhibition with us.

If you couldn’t make the opening—or if you’re ready for another look—we’d love to welcome you. UNDER PRESSURE is on view Tuesday through Saturday, 12–6 PM through August 5th at TOMAS REDRADO ART Miami.

$now live on the sound-signals.com blog. Alfredo Travieso’s @zeligbot latest entry reflects on Being John Malkovich and its relevance to contemporary cultural and political perception. “Directed by Spike Jonze from a script by Charlie Kaufman, the film enters the canon of American liberalist idealism and utopianism; it is a breed in itself. It’s a warning sign and a mirror…” A brief meditation on cinema, cognition, and how older works continue to refract today’s cultural landscape.
