BET Awards Weekend photo/video dump. 📸 🎥

Honored to have helped coordinate and produce two powerful moments celebrating two absolute legends and icons of our culture: @mslaurynhill and @thedangelo

Running point on D’Angelo’s family attending and introducing the tribute segment for their father was deeply humbling and bittersweet. To help bring his children into that moment, and to see them speak such touching words in honor of our brother D, meant more than I can put into words. This time last year, he was still here with us, and his loss continues to hit hard for me and for so many of us.

Then, working alongside Josh, the MLH team, and the @jessecollinsent team to help pull together such an incredible tribute honoring Ms. Lauryn Hill was truly special. Ms. Hill deserves all of her flowers and more, and in my opinion, that was one of the greatest tribute moments the BET Awards has ever done.

We also had the honor of pulling together an after party celebrating Ms. Hill and the birthday of her son John Nesta Marley, where so many incredible people came through to show love and honor her.

With D’Angelo’s passing still feeling so heavy, I see more clearly than ever the importance of giving our icons their flowers while they are still here — while they can feel the love, respect, and gratitude from the community for contributions that are truly immeasurable.

Big thank you to D’Angelo’s family and children for trusting me, Brian Trent, and Josh B. to help bring them in for such an important moment. Thank you to Ms. Hill and her family for allowing me to contribute to this historic weekend as well.

And a BIG thank you to @joshuaboumel @via__idu @mr.stevencharles @bigggrusss @tommyankh and @itsnamane - my decades-long brothers - for holding me down through the madness and helping pull off such a memorable weekend honoring two giants of our culture.

Rest in Power, D’Angelo. I know you are smiling down on us right now. 🙏🏾✊🏾✨

It’s been a wild few years leading up to this very moment where we could honor our brother, @thedangelo . I still pinch myself because I feel so blessed to be within his orbit. Brian you’ve been holding it down for decades and I can’t tell you how much i appreciate you for putting me on. The Vanguard will always carry D’s essence and every time they reunite it’s like magic. This night came with a lot of blood sweat and tears but worth every second being with his incredible children @1swayvotwain @imaniarcher @throne_vway
