المناسبة معرض «عاشت العروس!» الذي يقيمه «معهد العالم العربي » في باريس حتى فبراير 2027، مستكشفاً تقاليد الزواج وطقوس الأعراس في بلدان المغرب العربي.

ومن وحي المعرض، نذهب أبعد من قاعاته لنتأمل كيف حضرت العروس في أعمال سبع فنانات عربيات.

من صور الأعراس القديمة والتطريز وطقوس الزينة، إلى اللوحات والتركيبات والأعمال الأدائية، تتنوّع المقاربات: أعمال تستعيد بهجة الاحتفال وذكرياته، وأخرى توثّق تقاليد متوارثة، وتجارب تتأمل التوقعات الاجتماعية المرتبطة بالزواج.

Guess who finally showed up at midnight, fully dressed and ready to party? 🎉🧳
Yep… the suitcases! 😂
By then, we had already moved on: raided the hotel shop, performed some heroic hair and makeup magic, and dressed ourselves with pure determination. 💄✨
The bride and groom were absolutely ravishing, the venue was magical, suitcases were fashionably late, and we were nothing if not resourceful! 😂

And guess what was the first thing I hugged when I finally opened my suitcase? My running gear! 🏃‍♀️❤️ At 6 a.m., I unpacked, put on my jogging gear, headed out, clocked my 15,000 steps, and came back to a very happy family, ready to make the most of the two days we have left to enjoy together.

Better late than never… even when your luggage decides to arrive fashionably late.

We packed for three days. The airline packed for none.😜🧐
Beirut via Istanbul and Bari was our final destination.

Weeks of preparation went into this wedding. A theme, a dress code, a family group chat that became a full-time job. Every outfit had a name, a day, and a backup.

Yesterday we landed in Bari ,Faysal, my two daughters, three grandchildren, two friends and ten of us in total. We stood at the belt. It went round. And round. Then it stopped.

Complete silence. Then denial. Then the claim forms😤😁. Describe the colour of your suitcase. List the contents. Sir, would you like that alphabetically, or in order of heartbreak?

The verdict: a connection from Istanbul tomorrow, arriving at 8pm. Inshallah.

We checked into the hotel with one toothbrush and one toothpaste between us. The one thing I did right, my daily medicine was in my handbag. Medically safe. But it is still a disaster😒. We asked about a mall and got a very kind, very final no shopping malls in this area.And honestly, what do you buy for ten people in one afternoon?

So we wait for 8pm. The bride is still getting married, and if the bags don’t come, we’ll dance in what we’re wearing and call it the theme.

An airline can delay your luggage. It doesn’t get to cancel the celebration.

There are moments in life when silence is not emptiness, it is strength.

Not because we have nothing to say, but because we choose to protect our peace, our values, and our faith while life unfolds in its own time.

Some days are heavier than others. They test our spirit, challenge our optimism, and ask more of our hearts than we ever imagined. Yet I continue to believe that kindness is never weakness, dignity is never defeat, and hope is a choice we make every single day.

Today, my prayer is simple: may every heart carrying pain find comfort, may every soul burdened by sorrow discover peace, and may we all be guided by compassion, wisdom, and grace.

As for me, I will keep walking forward, with gratitude for those who stand beside me, faith in God’s plan, and the quiet belief that light always finds its way through the darkest moments.
