Formed by keyboardist Yohan Kebede and bassist Menelik Mulugeta Claffey, London duo @zenaforeva breathes thrilling new life into Ethiopian musical traditions. Drawing from the sacred warmth of Ethio-jazz and infusing it with alternative R&B, trip-hop, and psychedelic grooves, their sound honors legendary pioneers like Mulatu Astatke while capturing the vibrant innovation of the modern London scene.

Moving seamlessly between hypnotic melodies, D’Angelo-esque basslines, and golden-era Ethiopian nostalgia, their work feels both deeply rooted and daringly modern. Catch them live at Amare on the 5th and 6th of March 2027 as part of New Tide Festival. Early bird passe-partouts are available now via newtidefestival.nl or through the link in our bio.

Rooted in Ethiopian heritage and shaped by London's restless musical landscape, ZENA bring traditional sounds into conversation with neo-soul, jazz and experimental groove. The result is a sound that looks to the past without standing still.
