I love golf so much and today I went for a technique tidy-up and putting masterclass from the wonderful @benmasonputting at @fringegolfuk in Sheffield. I love the stats and the detail that Ben gives you and he really simplifies the game. He has given me 2 things to work on to make sure I consistently hit the middle of the blade and my aim is true - I can’t wait to take them out on the course. Putting guru @philkenyonputting was down at Fringe a few weeks ago and it’s easy to see why he likes the set-up so much. I need to talk to Mrs Walker about whether we can get rid of our living room and replace it with a @zengreenstage putting floor 😂 Looking forward to being back there soon @pxguk @footjoyeurope @galvingreen @visioputting

How well do you know your stroke? Have you ever done a @scienceandmotionsports Sam Puttlab measurement? It’s not about having a perfect stroke it’s about understanding your tendencies and then figuring out what can be improved. Your feel is influenced by your experiences and what you believe to be true- However many golfers have very misleading feels. Come get a putting evaluation this Thur2:15- message me for details or to sign up. GREEN READING - HOW IS YOUR VISUALIZATION? A lot of players like seeing the ball go in, but what if the slope you’ve picked doesn’t match what the ball is getting ready to do? One of the things I’ve been able to help players see and understand using the @quinticgolf Overhead Putt Tracker is entry point. If a player is seeing the ball tracking into the hole from a direction or entering a window that doesn’t match the slope and green speed, it can cause some conflict with, you guessed it, matching speed and line. A pattern that you might notice if this is an issue is putts hit with good speed (6-18” past the cup) end up missing high and are complimented by putts that tend to die into or come up just barely short. If you’re seeing inconsistency that falls in this category, just ask yourself how that might be happening. #PrestonsPutting #AimPoint #golftips #GolfDigest #Putting @zengreenstage

Golfers do more than look at a slope. They interact with it. Standing on a side slope provides ecological information through pressure beneath the feet, orientation relative to gravity, balance and contact with the surface. Dynamic touch describes how people perceive properties of the world through movement and physical interaction. Vision contributes, though perception extends across the whole golfer-environment relationship. Putting offers a clear example. A player gathers visual information from behind the ball, then walks around the putt and experiences the changing gradient underfoot. Each action changes the information available. Uneven lies work in a similar way. Moving onto the slope helps the golfer calibrate stance, balance, club-ground relationship and intended shot flight. Practice on varied surfaces therefore develops more than altered body positions. It gives the golfer opportunities to perceive information through movement and use it to regulate the shot. If you’re looking to improve your practice design, DM me to discuss how I can help.
