Big dreams have to start somewhere. For Vinny Trank, one of those starting points was a seat in an airplane. ✈️

Meet Vinny Trank, a freshman at Central Florida Aerospace Academy and one of the youngest members of our 2027 One Week Wonder team.

Vinny is an exceptional young man with some pretty ambitious goals.

He’s a dedicated student, a baseball player, and someone who already has his sights set on pursuing an appointment to a United States military service academy.

And recently, he got an opportunity that made his aviation journey a little more real.

His very first discovery flight—with General Jake Polumbo.

Imagine being a freshman in high school, dreaming about a future in military service and aviation, and getting to experience flight alongside someone who has spent a career doing exactly that.

Opportunities like this are about so much more than getting an airplane off the ground.

They’re about exposure. Inspiration. Mentorship. And helping young people see that the futures they dream about might actually be within reach.

Vinny has a long road ahead of him. There will be challenges, hard work, and plenty of lessons along the way.

But that’s what makes this stage of his journey so exciting.

We aren’t introducing you to someone who has already accomplished his dreams. We’re introducing you to someone who’s just getting started.

And we’re pretty excited to see where he goes.

Vinny, we’re proud to have you representing Aspiring Aviators as part of our One Week Wonder team. Keep working hard, keep asking questions, and keep aiming high.

Remember his name. This is only the beginning. ❤️✈️

This is the first in a series of features introducing the incredible young people behind The Next Great Aviation Story.

Give Vinny some encouragement in the comments, like and share his story, and follow along as we introduce more of the students preparing for Oshkosh 2027!

Jon navigating Big Tuna across the back yard on his way home from a "girls trip" at the coast.

That Zenith CH-701 looks just as good as a Cessna 180 in front of those big maple trees.
