Superb flat lay of serious wrist engineering and tactical nylon, plus items from across the front-line watch community. I want to tell everyone it's all mine...but in fact these belong to excellent @landdiversociety whose premium grid I enjoy following. Found him via @operator_watches. @watchesofespionage, @lumeraiders, @sketchyboyzwatchclub, @hamiltonwatch and others all featuring, making me feel I need to step up my game some. Just add the high standards kept by @wtfservicestandardtime, @watchesonthejob, and @wristonpatrol to the mix, and you’ve got the gold standard benchmark for what proper field gear and watch culture should look like.

Thursdays special #lesserspottedwatchweek post returns to a watch I have not donned in about a year! (Oops!) The 1980s (!) Meister Anker 23 jewel Automatic with chocolate tropical dial - here on a brown perlon strap that just feels right! The Case (ref 1491) is also a big part of my appeal, with radiant brushing that catches the light wonderfully, and a side profile that is unexpectedly sexy. Calibre 2616.2H by Poljot. Meister Anker was a German brand founded in 1968 and which was sold via mail order by the brand holder Quelle, with this watch being manufactured in Russia by the First Moscow Watch Factory following the fall of the USSR. According to montres-russes.org, "After the liquidation of the QUELLE company in 2009, the Meister Anker brand belongs to K-Mail Order Invest, better known as the Klingel mail order company." It took seeing a few posts from others this week to remind me of how very much I love my twelve @alpinawatches, that stretch from vintage pieces of the 1930s pre-WWII, right up to my contemporary and clever AlpinerX. That watch, powered by a sophisticated microprocessor and appropriate MEMS sensors, delivers most of the high value features found in the soulless 🍎⌚, in a creative carbon composite case with analog and digital displays. Here, the beautiful , robust and classy Alpina Nightlife Club is shown on wrist in rose gold with the characteristic large diameter crown found on the sporty Alpina mechanicals. I believe in the vision of @stas_peter and that we will continue to see an evolution of watch design - inevitably blending the best of mechanical horological history with the smartest leverage of new technology, in service of customer interests ... History (fr Alpina...) «The story of Alpina was originally brought to life when Swiss watch making visionary Gottlieb Hauser founded the “Alpina Swiss Watchmakers Corporation,” and in doing so united the leading Swiss independent watchmakers, who became known as the “Alpinists.” Initially, the Corporation was developed to optimize the manufacturing of movements and timepieces by forming a federating of cooperating manufacturers and suppliers, but Alpina soon started developing and producing in-house calibres and chronometers. In 1901, the trademark “Alpina” was registered and appeared for the first time on high-end calibres and watches produced by Gottlieb Hauser. The emergence of mass-produced, cheap and impersonal watches nearly led to Alpina’s demise, as the company refused to abandon its mechanical watch standards. However, despite the difficulties, Alpina remained an independent company and made its comeback in 2002, continuing the horological legacy of Gottlieb Hauser and ensuring his star continues to shine brightly well into the future. You've waited patiently, so here it is: today's #NauticaCelebration is the ref NAD25505G carbon fiber themed quartz Nautica 100M diver chronograph! Again seeming to utilize what should by now be the recognizable MIM (metal injection-molded) modular case design, a black PVD/ion-plated stainless case is mated with a carbon fiber movement case and a carbon fiber dial. This design sports a fixed steel bezel with brushed steel markers, and a screw down crown with blue recessed painted accents - to match the blue fractional markers between 12 and 4, and the blue tipped second hand. Great hand visibility presents with matte finish steel hour and minute hands set in with white Super Luminova. A 56mm bezel sits atop a case modestly larger still given the integrated crown guards.
