Some of my favourite stories in York 🤍

I’m very passionate about the power of storytelling on social media - there are countless people in the world that do exactly what you do, the only thing that separates you from them is your face, your personality and your story. I make it my mission in York to help businesses shine a spotlight on their story and allow them to stand out for who they are and what their values are.

What is your favourite York story?

ZEST, YORK 🍋‍🟩

INVITE | York isn’t short of incredible brunch spots, but not many can rival the terrace at @zest.york. Tucked away just off the brilliantly named Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate, Zest serves breakfast and brunch all day, seven days a week, alongside an impressive cocktail menu with 2-for-1 offers. Hard to argue with that.

We ordered:
🍳 The Full English – Cumberland sausages, bacon rashers, poached eggs, sautéed potato fritter, baked beans, grilled tomatoes & sourdough (£12.95)
🥩 Steak & Eggs – Mixed leaf salad, parmesan chips & peppercorn sauce (£14.95)
🫐 Mixed Berry Açaí Bowl – Fruit & nut granola, honey, coconut, summer seeds, mixed berries & peanut butter (£10.95)

The terrace is the perfect place to settle in, whether you’re stopping by for a couple of cocktails or making a proper meal of it. Having launched a new menu just over a week ago, we decided to sample a mix of dishes from both the brunch and lunch menus... and safe to say we didn’t leave hungry.

The Full English is their best-seller, so it felt rude not to order it. George was particularly happy to discover it came mushroom-free! The açaí bowl was exactly what I wanted: fresh, fruity, naturally sweet and packed with different textures. The Steak & Eggs was another standout, with the parmesan chips being an excellent addition that we’d happily order again.

The drinks menu deserves a mention too, with everything from fresh juices and smoothies to coffees, cocktails and spritzes, making it just as tempting for an afternoon drink as it is for brunch.

Whether you’re after a hearty breakfast, something a little lighter or just a sunny terrace to catch up with friends, Zest is well worth adding to your York list. We’ll definitely be back, if only as an excuse to make the most of that terrace before the Yorkshire sunshine disappears again.
