Viva Los Mentors Recap!

I had a great weekend in Vegas, got to see lots of friends, and got to present and watch presentations with so many amazing mentors and volunteers!

This season has been… a lot. The first champs I missed in 5 years, the announcement of the partnership ending between LEGO Education and FIRST, and the hardest blow… the passing of a friend, Dottie. Although I had a lot less FRC action than normal, I still was able to be given my pin for 10 years of volunteer experience in Las Vegas. I love this community and I hope we are able to hold each other together as things change. #peaceloveandrobots

Woohoo!! 2nd regional of the year completed. We won the Imagery award at the Arizona North Regional. (Apparently that’s a thing)

A HUGE thank you to team 2486 CocoNuts for hosting the event and to everyone from @azfirstrobotics who made it happen. The volunteers at this event moved mountains (And snow) to make sure we had a memorable competition and we’ll always appreciate y’all!

Of course, I also have to thank teams 1212 Sentinels and 7333 Ghost for playing on our playoff alliance. We wish you both luck at Arizona East Regional this week!

Aside from competition, this trip has been an amazing experience for our team. I saw a train, Schulz saw a dog, and Abby saw a skinwalker. Between the snowy days and disco spirits this trip has given us stories to tell for years.

You know I’m back! Had a great time the past few days at the FIRST Robotics Competition Orange County Regional. From beach days to elimination matches, this trip has been amazing! We were on the finalist alliance along with teams 5199 - Robot Dolphins From Outer Space and 9408 Warbots. After the most amazing comeback from dead last, I’m excited to see how far we go at Arizona North in week 3 and Las Vegas in week 5.

The 3 days I spent in Houston were definitely the best days of my life. I have never had so much fun or met so many incredible people.

Highlights from the championship are definitely getting to see Mark Rober and Dean Kamen, watching world championship level FRC matches fieldside, and taking a picture with the FIRST sign. (Which was my biggest goal for this trip)

So many bucket list items crossed off and I really hope to come again next year with my team!
