What a night. 🇨🇦🇹🇭

Last night, I had the privilege of officiating at the Canada vs Thailand show in our nation’s capital, Ottawa.

The fighters were incredible and truly a testament to the continued growth of Muay Thai in Canada. Every athlete showed up, competed hard, and put on performances they should be proud of.

For me personally, one of the coolest moments was getting to referee a match between one of Canada’s young stars, Raphael — someone I’ve had the opportunity to watch grow over the years — and Channel 7 Champion Chujai from Thailand. 🇨🇦🇹🇭

I don’t really get nervous reffing fights anymore…but man, I was EXCITED for this one. 😂

I also had the opportunity to work alongside an incredible officiating crew from Ontario, the United States, and Thailand.

One thing people don’t always see is how much work officials put in behind the scenes. These are people who dedicate their time to studying, learning, travelling, discussing rounds, reviewing decisions and constantly trying to become better at what they do. Nobody gets every moment perfect, but everyone on this crew cared deeply about doing right by the athletes and the sport.

It was an honour to be part of that team.

Thank you to Muaythai Canada for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to officiate on a stage like this. And thank you to Kru Alin for your continued leadership and everything you’ve done — and continue to do — for Muay Thai in our province and across the country.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: officiating isn’t easy.

But we do our best. For the athletes. For the coaches. And for the sport we love.

I still remember when I first started officiating, worrying about whether I was timekeeping properly or if I was scoring each round correctly. Fast forward to now, and I’m judging and refereeing professional fighters at a Canada vs Thailand event.

If you told me back then that I’d eventually be doing this, I probably would have called you crazy.

But here we are.

Still learning. Still improving. Still grateful for every opportunity.

And definitely looking forward to the next one. 🙏🥊🇨🇦🇹🇭
