The potter hill dam is a travesty . This dam and fish ladder provide a choke point for the double breasted cormorant to feed until they vomit. The river herring have no chance of making upstream to spawn . Their internal gps, using information thousands of years old . The Town of Westerly dropped the ball. I imagine the consultants and engineers get paid well yet another earth day passes and I watch what should be an amazing herring run that should feed the entire River ecosystem . River herring and striped bass mortality go hand in hand . Maybe we can remove the dam before next earth day .

Had to look this up. I have fished in Quonnie pond for over 30 years . I had never seen these before . Couldn’t get a good picture but there were two juvenile African pompano swimming along .

Almost cut my hair became so personal to me. Singing it brings such catharsis.Happy to have seen him numerous times. First time we hitchhiked from westerly to Colt state park . Being in the fishing business we deal with injuries and infections. Betadine and saline soak . Being a musician and a fisherman can get interesting. Fish bone broken off in the middle of my hand impacting the tendon and nerve. Having it surgically removed today . Fuck me .

Lost some friends to suicide over the years some very recent . Pay attention to the people around you. They may not be ok. I was inspired to put pen to paper. Thank you to my niece Adasa for some inspiration

Its going to be 55 times around the sun. So much I have seen so much still undone.
I've been overwhelmed and shaken my spirit is broken. Losing our son has continued to be unspoken.
No one knows what to say ,we don’t know what to do. Losing a child takes much life out of you.
Ive climbed into my shell and put up a wall, hiding my pain my anguish, my eventual fall. A fall into darkness and anger and despair, I feel I am drowning and struggling for air.
There is no written rule on how to repair, the damage the pain I just don’t really care. Its put things in perspective its shown me some light . “Your always angry he would say your always ready to fight.
He saw right through me, my amazing child , the little Buddha my son with his Cheshire cat smile. It took his passing, to help me see ,whats really important what makes us all free. We are chained to our phones our computers , TV.
We have lost our ability to converse and to talk, we cant put down our phones to even go for a walk.
We put importance in money , vanity and fame. We ignore the broken people we discard them and their shame.
We have become selfish and pompous a broken society of greed. We have lost sight of our values our health our true needs.
I have a burden ive been carrying in a bag on my back. I sometimes open it ,look through it ,and and it keeps me on track. I discard what I can, but I feel so much pain, its like pulling off the bandage and letting blood drain.
Little by little these wounds slowly heal but we will never be the same the scars hurt ,and their real.
Five years have passed by, in the blink of an eye, You left this world in such a violent way, no chance for goodbye.
We miss you and love you. hold on best we can, regretfully I will never see you grow into a man.

Sick and tired of the gentrification, the nimby bullshit. These beaches are part of the public trust. Sorry that most Westerly residents dont meet the financial criteria to get a beach button.Sorry that theres been a mad exodus from the concrete jungle and your seeking refuge here. Guess what this beach has been fished for centuries, by the coastal first nations of New England. Surf fishermen, commercial fishermen How dare you pompous miscreants, flaunt your " were better than thou ,torches" while you hide behind the fire district badges and your nonprofit conservation tax shelters. The beaches in Rhode Island belong to the citizens of the state. This travesty needs to end. Time to realize that no human is worth more than another because of their wealth. Time for all of Rhode Island's peasant taxpayers to go fish on quonnie beach. Every damn one of us needs to go fish on quonnie beach this week.
