Celebrating CHRISTINA ZIMPEL and her recent commissions for @meccabeauty @meccampower with @use.repost ・・・ Here at MECCA M-POWER, we celebrate visionary women whose bold imaginations reshape how we see beauty, creativity, and culture. At our new Bourke Street flagship, two extraordinary works by Christina Zimpel: Blue Turtleneck (Mega) and Special Occasion (Mega) take centre stage. These are the largest paintings of her career to date (and required the use of a ladder!). Renowned for her vibrant, graphic portraits, Zimpel draws on a rich tapestry of influences: classical Greek and Roman coiffure, 1950s pin-up calendars, the vivid colours and prints of the ’60s and ’70s, and her enduring love of the the Fauves art movement. “My choice of colours are riotous,” she says, “but I enjoy that the subjects remain serene and dignified.” Towering within our flagship store, these works command both scale and spirit - and are a radiant celebration of women, creativity, and artistic expression 💫

Final day to view Christina Zimpel’s solo exhibition at Olsen Annexe. Zimpel’s paintings and drawings suggest women not quite of this time and not quite perfect, a feeling she sometimes has herself with the rapid changes in society and social media. Christina’s often intense, non-realistic use of colour and simplified reductive shapes with a split horizon creates a blatant feeling that there is nowhere to hide and that her subjects are fully exposed.
