Not much of a Halloween girl, but I do love this season of harvest. 🍂 A time to give thanks for the bounty, being intentional about the seeds I’m planting, and welcoming the rest and stillness that winter will soon bring… trusting God is at work even before the blooms appear.

These pictures feel a little like life: surrounded by all sorts of things, yet I’m still here. By His grace, still finding beauty, making room for peace, and keeping a little silly in it all. 😉✌🏾

Grateful for this season. Trusting Him with the next. 🤎

Grief gets on my nerves‼️ It shows up at the oddest times, and it hits differently depending on how much time has passed or what life looks like when it decides to knock.

August brought major transitions, and grief has a way of making itself known in those moments. While unpacking, I found these portraits Josiah gave me one Christmas. I had jokingly told him I wanted to escape the drama of the U.S. and go to Italy. On Christmas morning, he handed me two wrapped portraits with a card that said, “I may not be able to get you to Italy yet, but I figured I could give you something to keep the dream alive until we get there.”

What faith he demonstrated. He wasn’t overwhelmed by the size of my wish, he simply found a way to plant a seed and keep the dream alive.

I hadn’t seen these portraits in years after moving from Virginia to Maryland. Finding them today felt like Josiah handing me the baton of faith again.

So, I guess it’s time to start planning that trip to Italy. 🇮🇹

Grief sucks, but God still has a way of bringing something good from it all. ❤️

Well, the nest is empty...our @umesnews Hawks @tiredmaniac8 is back on campus as a second-semester freshman! 🦅❤️

I’m grateful to proudly rock my University of Maryland Eastern Shore mom T-shirt and trust that the UMES community will continue pouring into Gabe and strengthening his HBCU pride. I pray he fully embraces the gift of attending an institution where our ancestors laid a foundation of educational excellence, community engagement, and future achievement.

Oh, how proud Josiah would be to see his sister and brother living abundantly and carrying his spirit with them. ❤️ #HBCUpride #UMES #emptynest

Today, 22 years ago, after 10 weeks on bed rest and several trips to the doctor, Josiah... King Josiah was born.

As I shared in my story, this year, after three years, is hitting different. Or maybe it's hitting exactly as it should.

Today, Tsion, Gabe, and I visited one of our favorite places- Great Falls, a place that holds so many beautiful memories with Josiah. Over lunch, we shared our favorite stories of him. Every single one carried the same thread... love.

So, I wanted to share this video and a verse from the poem I wrote in honor of Josiah.

"So as I celebrate my son...
I celebrate the King he was.
The King he remains.
The King whose life continues to ripple through ours.
May we remain loving.
May we remain.
Like Josiah."

Happy Heavenly Birthday, King Josiah.

So I did a thing last night. An emotional yet liberating thing. I shared a spoken word piece honoring Josiah's birthday month and Black Men's Mental Health Awareness. Its a remix of sorts, as it is a combination of pieces, one written by a dear friend @talayassimpson and others from my journal. Guess you can call it a mother's love letter to her son, offered as a message, a movement and a gift I hope to others.

Happy 20th birthday to our strong one 🎉

The loyal friend… the “down like two flat tires on a Cadillac” kind of solid 😂… the one who always has a joke ready, yet stands tall as a kind giant and protector of the underdog.

What I love most? You’re just a good human with a curious soul, and that’s rare. The world better be ready, because Gabe’s got plans… and I’m fully here to support and see you live them out!

Keep being exactly who you are. "You are the head and not the tail and above and not beneath" -Deuteronomy 28:13

The best parts of me🫶🏾 are in this video. My heart beats...and today marks three years since one of those heart beats has gone to make heaven smile with his antics, silly grin and incredible capacity to love.

We have this family mantra that love has the final say. My heart is full of that love today, as it also carries the weight of grief. I don't understand it all...or maybe none of it at all, and yet I stand that love gets the final word!

"A smile speaks a thousand words, yet it mostly speaks hope and joy." Today this photo of Josiah made me smile, even giggle at his mischievous smile- that's his sister's( @zionluvgrn ) squishmellow that he "borrowed" and took to school that day. 😆😉💚

I miss him
