She’s seen the Stoke grow. Now she’s part of its history. 🌊

@zizzy3 has been surfing for 15+ years and has been with A Great Day in the Stoke since the beginning.

She remembers the first year. She’s watched the community grow, the lineup expand, and the energy become something much bigger than anyone could have imagined.

That’s the beauty of AGDITS: you don’t just attend it. You become part of its story.

We’re hoping Lizelle will be back to help us write the next chapter.

See you at the Stoke, Lizelle. 🏄🏾‍♀️

What a beautiful and historic Juneteenth! Thank you @____brick @ebonybeachclub for creating a space for black surfers to rest and feel safe in pools and outdoor spaces that have historically been inaccessible throughout the history of this country. To just be. It has always been important, but with the resurgence of violence on black bodies in outdoor spaces it feels especially important to name. So happy to share waves with everyone! Can’t wait to do it again!

Thank you for the snaps @rickb155 @davidmesfinart

This old knee is starting to work again 😊 took a few wipeouts to trust it, but thank you to my friends who kept encouraging me to get outta my head!

To me, being a Black surfer is a revolutionary act.

Juneteenth is a celebration of Black joy, freedom, resilience, and love. A commemoration of the liberation of the last enslaved people in America, nearly two years after emancipation.

To be a Black surfer means that you, or someone in your lineage, broke through centuries of oppression and chose to redefine your relationship to water.

Panthera is a space for Black and Brown surfers everywhere, but today we celebrate Black American surfers, their families and their ancestors.

Happy Juneteenth, Fam! ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽🌊
