Taana Baana Reflections: the warp of the artist's fabrics was bound with the weft of conversations, music, and dialogue. Curated by @fatimajuned , Taana Baana wove together our learnings and questions over the last six years. Last weekend, we gathered to ask - What power does the textile really hold? How does one use it for provoking new ideas or talking about issues we love brushing under the carpet? How can we create a space for true feminist and democratic dialogue through the fabric? Many came together to make Taana Baana what it was - from the visible names and hands who shared their stories, voices, and ideas to the invisible labour of translations, editing, printing, set up, take down, and what not. Our heartfelt gratitude to the folks who held this space with us: Artist talk with @distant_firefly_ @arunacocreate Vaishali, Ganga Tai and a virtual @abhidhaniphade Beautiful Music with @abi.k.safa and Haider Food and love with Simurgh @simurghcentre A walk in Nizammudin with Rani and Fatima and @fatimajuned A film on our cross-border tapestry by @_ebony_black_ Conversations on imagining healing across borders with @dhaarchidi @mad_ad13 @zmayet__ @mx.kaurchimuk Workshops with Ash and our mending library team @achaldodia @freelibrariesnetworkfln Krishna from @kitabi_dost Sharing their imaginations on how textile arts can bridge divides in various contexts with @zmayet__ @tilottama_ @moomal__ @achaldodia and Pooja from @kitabein_bolti_hain and some soulful music with @folksong_nilkanta Back-end support with the incredible @moolisamoolword team - Suraj, Ashit, Arohan, Sima Anything and everything by Tayba Tech and social media with @whimsicalpirate @befazool , Muda support @harame.co Achal, Madhuri, So much misc work Manyu , Shrayashi , Shefa , @nanabacana Hand-made crochet love from the Khush Azad Kaabil community @khushazadkaabil Posters @sajidwajidshaikh And the countless others who made this gathering possible 🙏🏽 We hope the conversations and dialogues and provocations continue much beyond the four walls we invited you into! Every journey is shaped by the people who quietly stand beside us—encouraging us, believing in us, and reminding us that every small effort matters. Looking back at our session on 21st July, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who became a part of it. Some stood behind the scenes, some shared the stage, and many simply showed up with open hearts. Each of you became the backbone of that conversation. From the bottom of our hearts, Cross Cat Collective would like to thank @mx.kaurchimuk , @tilottama_ and @zmayet__ for inviting us to be a part of this beautiful gathering. Our heartfelt gratitude to @vidyashivadas Ma'am for her unwavering presence, and to @folksong_nilkanta Da, whose soulful songs added warmth and depth to the evening. Thank you to Partha and Vijit for sharing our journey with such sincerity, and to everyone who joined us, listened, engaged, and made the conversation richer with your presence. Thank you for walking this path with us. Thanks @fica_india and , @vadehraartgallery to provide such a engaging space.

A session, where visuals depicted the psyche of borders and post migration, stories of the unconscious or conscious, floating and vibrants lives, and eventually words followed. On 21st of July at Vadehra Art Gallery, Cross Cat collective and জমায়েত/zmayet(jomayet) shared a space where two collectives took a pause, to revisit their journeys. This session was a "Mehfil" : a Mehfil of reading books of friends ,seeing through their words, listening their voices, having fun, listening "folk songs" by Neel daa and engaged with people, with "Muri & Chai" . Somewhere between those moments, we revisited our own journey—from the tiny seed that was Psychera #1 to the world that has now blossomed into Psychera V. While on the other hand, @zmayet__ shared their motivation for working as a cooperative in SE Asia around participatory publication in a collective research model. This was part of FICA’s ongoing exhibition ‘towards minor gestures: intensities in the making', with Cross Cat Collective and জমায়েত (Jomayet) around the landscape of independent self-publishing and the ecosystem of comics, zines, and paper culture between Tripura, Dhaka, and their neighbouring regions. This dialogue is part of a collaboration with Reunion in the form of Exchange / Within Cohesive Correspondence with @mx.kaurchimuk and moderated by @srrbrrr Much care to @kitchen_untitled Thanks to @vidyashivadas and to the entire @fica_india team. Our sincere gratitude to @vadehraartgallery and the @mrinalinimukherjee.foundation for opening up this scope for young practitioners to intersect.

A dialogue with Cross Cat Collective (Partha Banik) and জমায়েত/zmayet (Tilottama B.) Moderated by Sabar Saluja In collaboration with Reunion in the form of Exchange / Within Cohesive Correspondence. Tuesday, 21 July 5 - 8 PM As part of FICA’s ongoing exhibition ‘towards minor gestures: intensities in the making’, we invite you to an open conversation between Cross Cat Collective (Partha Banik) and Zmayet (Tilottama B.) around the landscape of independent self-publishing and the ecosystem of comics, zines, and paper culture between Tripura and Dhaka and their neighbouring regions. Reunion in the Form of Exchange / Within Cohesive Correspondence led by Kaur Chimuk, is an initiative that engages with temporary archives—in the form of publications, drafts, revisions—from artist-run spaces/units and collectives. Cross Cat Collective is an independent comix crew from Tripura, dedicated to self-publishing comics, zines, graphic novels, stickers and posters. But more than just making cool art, they’ve built a wide community of scribblers, writers, activists, and self-taught artists—all coming together to create and collaborate. জমায়েত/zmayet (pronounced as jomayet) is an open-initiative operating as a cooperative, interdependently in between Bangladesh and India. As an initiative, they are curious to amplify, recollect and share the perspectives of counter-cultural, loose narratives through diverse graphical mapping/tracing. zmayet is interested in expanding slowly over time through participatory events, community pop-ups, shared libraries, and inclusive collaborations. Sabar Saluja is interested in storytelling. Her practice so far has been grounded in her fascination with nature, continuous cycles of life and death, growth and decay, the cellular and the planetary. She works across multiple mediums including stop motion animation, photosynthesised image-making, painting, sketchbooking, and lecture performances as means of formulating, creating and sharing her inquiries. _________ Only some of the moments captured during CLAIMING TOMORROW. The fanzines collected during the journey in India, as well as those that arrived in Bari through the swap, met different hands and gazes. A shared table, pages being leafed through, images that preserve memories and experiences. Photographs and independent publications enrich an archive made of stories from both near and distant worlds; they create connections and become part of a collection that continues to grow thanks to encounters between people. From this stop, the latest fanzine of @laredazionebari also began its journey. Copies of “Bari, città del viaggio" will be hosted in the other destinations visited: a real as well as metaphorical journey that, together with the other works, will continue its path alongside @Guidoborso, accompanying the project and opening new dialogues and possibilities. . . . Yesterday, ellora_collective hosted a zine-making workshop, guided by @tilottama_ , the co- founder of @zmayet__ While the core focus was on crafting zines, the session evolved into a profound conversation about our region's fading culinary practices. Together, we experienced a forgotten local dish, 'Chaal Shiddho.' Our discussion focused heavily on the power of memory. We spent most of our time exploring how food preserves personal histories, triggers nostalgia, and acts as a lens for looking at gender issues, land politics, oppression, and future aspirations. It was incredible to see how everyone took these deep, memory-driven conversations and poured those distinct personal stories straight into the pages of their zines. Special thanks to Ireen for preparing everything and keeping us well-fed and refreshed throughout the session. With @saiqawitha_q @lazuthekid @lazuthebaker @sarahshome___ @zencatt___ @minhaaaaz , Mimma Sheikh Mou, Munia, @adritoshan and Ireen.
