Meet Zoey Smoot, Co-Founder & Secretary of Healing Hearts Nursing Foundation

Zoey Smoot is a dedicated NICU nurse with six years of experience caring for newborns and infants. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tuskegee University and a BSN from Mercer University.

Her passion for caring for others began at a young age, inspired by her pediatrician and the nurses who supported her throughout childhood. Through experiences like babysitting, nannying, and working in daycare, she developed a strong foundation that led her to a fulfilling career in neonatal care. Zoey is committed to supporting the growth and well-being of her patients while providing compassionate care to their families.

Fun Fact: Zoey enjoys traveling and has visited destinations including Dubai, Spain, Italy, Japan, and more.

Founded by Courtland James Zoey Shenece’Anderica I. Gunnerson Jamila Williams, a group of African American female registered nurses.

Our mission through Healing Hearts Foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals who share a passion for serving others through compassionate healthcare. We are committed to uplifting those who provide care to communities in need, guided by genuine intent, unwavering dedication, and a standard of excellence in service.

• Award: $500

• Recipients: 2

• Applications Open: May 4

• Deadline: June 12

• Award Announcement: August 3

This scholarship is exclusively available to African American students pursuing a career in nursing.

From Skegee to Tufts, I’ve been blessed with phenomenal women being brought into my life.

Each of you hold such a special place in my heart and I am so grateful for how you all show up for me.. every 👏🏾 single👏🏾 time 👏🏾.

Without a doubt I can count on each of you, and that’s a blessing that not everyone has.

Now that I’ve made it back to this side of the world.. I have to say express my gratitude to these ladies! To have 7 girls willing to take an 8 - 10hr flights all in the name of celebrating me truly warms my heart. Everything I asked of them they did willingly. You all truly made me feel loved and appreciated. If this isn’t an attestation to you get back what you put out idk what is!! Thank you so much to my sisters! I love you each oh so much! Cheers to our taste of Italy!
